Should post counts be displayed?

Fairly simple really - as on offshoot of discussion here:
Character Age
If people would really rather not have post counts - (I think) they can be removed...
(But bare in mind this won't necessarily mean the end of post-whoring...)

I voted no. Post counts should be obscured.
Those of us with high post counts only use them for evil, myself included, and anyway some of us don't necessarily want to be reminded of how much we've posted and its corresponding insinuations about our personal lives and the time we choose to waste.
Actually I just can't bear to have the 2nd highest post count LIEK EVAR, and until RKL's post count is obscured or lower than mine I will not sleep at night.

What is the problem with keeping post counts, are people complaining that they arent as high as anothers or what?

I suppose the theory goes that some people like high post counts, so they will reply to every thread imaginable, not necessarily with quality content, which dilutes the intelligence out of threads and leads to tangents. I guess that's the theory.

Well. Even though it's true that quantity doesn't equal quality, when I first joined the forums, I considered a person's post-count as an inidicator of how long they'd been around the game and therefore how much I should give credit to their knowledge of how cantr and the forums work.
So it was a useful bit of knowledge to me. Anyhow.. I voted yes.

I don't care either way... but even if they were taken off of the person's mini-profile thing, you could still see who had the highest posts by going to Memberlist and sorting by posts, couldn't you? So they'd still be able to keep track... *shrugs* I don't think it's really that big of a deal.. if they post meaningless posts, it's easy to ignore them..

My ego wants the post counts, though to be sure the other arguments for post counts are perfectly fine as well.

I don't see the point in post counts. I've been here for how long? I post what I need/when I actually have something to say, not to take up space.
Honestly, I don't get the point in even knowing. I don't think the forum is here to have a contest about who can take up the most space. It's here to discuss the game.
Edit
Granted, I participated in some stupid game on here, once. I did it for the game however, not the postcount like some.

And us oldbies with high post counts can post irrelevant posts like this one, but people will still read it.
Ha!
