A Black Sunday

This is turning out to be the worst day in a long time...

Due to a small family emergancy i have to go to Brussels tomorrow and visit my sister. I have already booked and paid for the ticket when i realise i have no idea where my passport is. I spend a few hours looking for it all over my apartment and eventually i find it. Hurray!

Then I go to my computer to finish my paper for school that I have to write before I leave tomorrow. Ofcourse my computer decides that this is the day it will finally die... After spending a few hours trying to resurrect it i realise that there's nothing I can do and that I f***ing hate computers! Everything I've written over the last three days is gone (not to mention everything else I had on it, like 3 years worth of photos)

Anyway, sorry about this post, I just had to let out som steam.
Now I have to go and try to rewrite my paper. Nobody happens to have a paper on 'Causes of conflict and the State' lying around? no?

Schools can often be very understanding in the case of family emergencies. You may want to try leaving the paper and just explaining to them?

And if that doesn't work, threaten them with a cheap American firearm.

But in all seriousness, if your very polite and friendly to whomever your dealing with (in the school) it's likely they will help you out.

I just wondering how much you know about computers. Do you know enough to know that the contents of the hard drive are lost? If not, then it might not be lost.

Yeah, I am going to talk to them, I've realised that there's no way I can finish the paper in time anyway so I'm not even trying anymore. Hopefully they'll be understaning and if they're not, well, life goes on. It's not the end of the world

I don't know that much about computers, but I have friends who do so hopefully I can salvage some of the stuff I had on the harddrive

There right. I don't really know much about computers myself, but I'm sure if you know someone who can figure those things out, you could salvage what was on the hard drive, unless it melted or fried out or something. I know how terrible it is to lose all your work because of a damned machine.

If you don't know any technical types, and if you feel your stuff was worth it, I'm certain you could hire someone to check it out.

I can figure out computers. Just give me 10 minutes alone with them.

Persistance is the root of success. What exactly happens? Won't it turn on? Or go into Windows? If you can't get into windows, you could always use tree in dos to locate your precious files and move 'em on to a floppy or memory stick.
