Yep you guessed it. It is time for another does of Firefly/Serenity.

So it has been a long time since I have given an update. Well, first of all Serenity has been pushed back to September 30th 2005. Original opening day was April 22nd 2005 but Universal thought the field was already crowded with Star Wars, War of the Worlds, and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Pretty much, Serenity will be taking up 6 months were Firefly left off. Don't worry, a comic book will be coming out in the summer filling in the gaps during that 6 months period. Well that is all I got right now. For more news check out these sites.....

Some friends of mine got me hooked on Firefly just before the DVDs came out. I really wish I would've had TV back when it aired. Rabbit ears and aluminum foil still couldn't pick up Fox here at the time!

I thought I read a rumor a while back that at least one sequel was in the plans. You know if that's still the case - or true at all?

There is the possibility for two more films if Serenity does well. So get yourself and everyone you know to Serenity on Sept. 30th and we'll be a little bit closer to seeing a sequel. I have done my duty by brainwas.....erm....I mean introducing Firefly to many members of Cantr to Firefly.

It is good to see there are more of Browncoats out there. And I'm glad you like Firefly and you weren't someone that I introduced to it.

You can tell it's a good show because Fox cancelled it! Actually, I guess they haven't done so bad. The Simpsons, That 70s Show, and King of the Hill are some of the greatest American shows of the 90s (if not all time). I'm sure I would love 24 if I watched it (don;t know why I haven't bothered), and I'm glad that Arrested Develpoment is still holding strong, though I have gotten worried. I just can't get over the Family Guy fiasco over the past few years. Idiots! Make up your friggin' minds! And why does Paris Hilton still have air time? Can somebody explain that to me please?!

I'm really looking to a feature length Firefly though. I hope they were able to take advantage of the extra minutes and really flesh out those great characters. And I hope the suits didn't screw it up to bad with artistic advice.

According to Whedon, there hasn't been any interference with the studio. Universal seems to be giving Whedon full range of freedom with the film as long as it keeps to the budget I imagine but anyone who has seen Firefly know what Whedon can do with a TV budget. Now he has a 50 million dollar movie budget which is small to today's standards but that is what makes the difference between great film makers and others is what they can do with what they got. Sergio Leone and Robert Rodriquez are great examples of great film makers and I'm sure we can Whedon to those ranks in time.

the comic is to have three different covers for each issue

http://buffy.nu/article.php3?id_article=9071

SERENITY #1

Written by Joss Whedon and Brett Matthews, pencils by Will Conrad, colors by Laura Martin.

This fall Joss Whedon makes his big-screen debut as writer/director with Serenity, the big-budget feature follow-up to his cult-hit TV show Firefly‹the story of a ship full of mercenaries, outlaws, fugitives, and one law-abiding prostitute running across the fringes of space. Now Whedon pens a three issue miniseries based on the film with Brett Matthews, whose previous credits include Spider-Man specials with Daredevil and Wolverine, episodes of TV’s Firefly, an Angel miniseries, and the animated Chronicles of Riddick feature Dark Fury.

The crew of Serenity once again find themselves broke and on the wrong side of a number of very large firearms, making the first issue a case study in how to mix intense, Whedon-style character interaction with cinematic action and violence. Artist Will Conrad and colorist Laura Martin paint a rough and wild world of adventure across a strange and dangerous universe. Each issue of this series features three covers, one for each member of the Serenity crew, drawn by the biggest names in comics. Issue #1 features Mal by John Cassaday, Inara by J.G. Jones, and Jayne by Bryan Hitch.

32 pages, $2.99, in stores on July 6.

on a side note, on the (new) Battlestar galactica miniseries the same people that did the VFX work on Firefly did their stuff as well and as you can see from this screen cap http://buffy.nu/article.php3?id_article=2945 you can clearly see Serenity flying in the sky of Caprica :D

I love Cassaday's work on X-Men.

Speaking of X-Men, I hear that Whedon isn't out of the running for directing X3. I don't think anyone can count him out since he started writing the extremely popular Astonishing X-Men which is the most popular comic out there right now. Issue #4 is already worth $3,520 and the run just started last summer.

I was never much of a fan of Wonder Woman but if anyone can make a good movie out of it then Joss Whedon would be the one. Whedon understands that the characters make the movie not the situations, story, or FX. People make movies about superheroes, war, westerns, sci-fi, etc... Only the greats make movies about characters who are the superheroes, characters who are in war, characters who live in the old west, characters who live in a future world, etc....

one of the first thing Whedon mentioned about doing the new Wonder Woman is she won't be doing anything silly, or wearing anything silly for that matter.

and he is out of directing X3. Sad, he could have done a great job at it. They chose some new director to do it, I forget his name though.

I just got "Finding Serenity" today and I think it is awesome. It is a book of collected essays by people based on Firefly and the upcoming film Serenity. If you like Firefly then you might want to pick up this book. It just came out this month so it might be hard to find yet but you can definitely find it Amazon.com.

I think the essay about what would happen if the crew of Serenity fell through a dimensional wormhole and ended up in the Star Trek universe is high-larious.

I just got this e-mail...

e-mail wrote:Check out exciting news from Joss Whedon now on the Browncoats message boards!

Hey guys.

I'm here on the official site, so that can only mean one thing: somebody finally told me my password! (Again.) It probably also means that I have some big-ass announcement or other. Well tops on the announcement list is this: after months of intensive yoga, i can finally touch my toes! (They feel round and bunion-y.)

But there's more! I'm talkin' movie news, peeps, so no more drumroll: Trailer. Serenity. Tuesday.

Yeah, kids, the haps is hap'nin', and it runs thus: EXCLUSIVELY on Apple movie trailers (and linked through this site as well of course) will be a small, medium, large or FULLSCREEN trailer for Serenity the major motion movie. Yeah, THE trailer. And the following Friday said trailer hits theaters. Which theaters? Until I get confirmation you'll have to guess, but I'm betting you can.

Now, here's a word of warning: this trailer ain't shy. If you're looking to live totally spoiler-free, know that there's plenty of key dialogue and images running through this bad boy. It's pretty tasty, though, and it doesn't give everything away. But close scrutiny will definitely learn you much of what's to come. (Anakin TOTALLY goes evil.) It's a nice piece to while away the time till September, and hopefully should intrigue th' peeps that don't have coats of brown.

The only thing more exciting than y'all finally seeing this was showing it to Nathan. Like a schoolboy giggled he.

Bye-ee!

Joss "You can't take my toes from me" Whedon.
