So.. No one swears in Europe? You do understand it's just slang, just words, correct? If I was stabbing someone, and you guys were like" Whoah, Chrissy, it's not cool to stab another person, I'd be like, Whoah, you're totally right! But swearing? Who cares. It's just words. It's, just, words......

My son is 11, he has not earned the right to say what he likes, however, at the age of 27, I have. Can you please explain to me what the problem is?

Don't know really. I don't care if it's just swearing, but if it's directed at somebody, then that's a problem. And it's the same without swear words. I think the no swearing is sort of silly, because when someone says, "Go screw youself!" (or something like that) you know that they mean "Go eff yourself!" so there's really no point except politeness, but...

Problem one: We need more info on your family situation. Is there a father figure around too? I'm betting no, but I could be surprised. Do you live with his grandparents? Do you work to pay bills or are you a stay at home mom?

Aside from any surprising anwers, I'd say it's simple lack of communication between parent and offspring. I see this all day long, since I own a business that offers alot to younger kids. I see the parents say "Now only squirt out a little paint" and there's a huge lake of paint on thier plate. Little *explitive* I can come over and say the exact same thing "Now only squirt out a little paint", and boom, there's a jelly bean sized drop of paint.

Often, not just sometimes or once in a while, but often, kids aren't listening because it's their parents doing the talking. Try having a friend talk to them, with you out of the room. Then have them come back, and you all talk about what they talked about. That should get through to them, unless they know your friend enough not to respect them. Don't forget that everyone talking part, otherwise, they'll just behave better around your friend, now that they've seen they've displeased your friend. They'll still be little *explitives* around you.

Try that and see what happens.

No, hunny, my son is brilliant, and is raised to be whatever he wants to be. I'm a little bit confused on your response, but I will try to explain my point. He is not allowed to swear. Even though they're just words. Do to society and culture, I feel, he is not allowed to use such slang, but I am. I have reached the age, I can say whatever I want. As long as it doesn't hurt other beings. And slang words, when not directed at someone, doesn't.

I understand now, No, no, no... My problem is not with my son, butt munch, it's with Europeans and their censorship and I would appreciate some answers. I can respect anyone's point of view, I have to be taught it first though.

Ok, now I'm the confused one.

Am I right in understanding that you feel you should be able to say anything, but you don't think your son should say anything you dissapprove of?

And that you don't have a problem with what your son says, but rather how some Europeans dissapprove of what your son says?

No... It is confuseing though. The point of bringing my son into it, is that he's a baby, and I don't allow him to swear. I am a grown up, I expect to be able to slang/swear if I choose to. Thus, the topic is started. As a christian, as a person who believes in freedom of speech, I want to know where this oppresion came from that's being enforced on us in this forum. I agree with being polite, I'll be damned, If I'm supressed. There's a difference.

The forum is open to people as young as your son. You don't allow him to swear. Presumably you don't swear in front of him. Nor do you swear here.


As for you talking about the right to say what you like... no, I'll not go into that.

I would never let my son play cantr. It's not for kids. The respodsibility doesn't fall upon the game, it fall upons the parent .I suppose it's a difference of opion. To each there own. Have fun..............

It is interesting how some of the youngest of Cantrian players can spell better than those who "have the right to swear," amongst other things.
