I'm not really into anime but I love Miyazaki films:

Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, etc.

Ha, finally someone with sense! Miyazaki rules! I like Totoro the best!!! I sometimes tried watching the anime films found in the library but I noticed they all follow the same pattern. And they're scavvy... :-s In one there was girls having sex in the school gym. I don't think Japanese school girls really have orgies, they've just been turned into objects. In miniskirts. And you can never tell how old they are for real. No wonder people turn into pedophiles.

Anywho, do as dragonslayer suggested and check out Naruto. Very good. I even took the time to buy the imported fighting game for it. I play it on my trashy gamecube.

yeah, good stuff. but i haven't seen any others besides these 2.


naruto is good enough to get me to watch the next episode, but i find that like with a lot of these never-ending series, the story is sometimes a bit patchy.

I watch Anime a lot! I am so glad this one girl that visits my grandparents sometimes got me interested in it.
I started with Naruto. Took me two to three weeks to get through all 220 episodes (Summer o' 2007, good times).
I absolutely LOVED the first ending of naruto, Wind by Akeboshi.

And then I started watching Bleach. Epic battles but a bit too "omg we're all invincible"ish sometimes.
I quit after episode hundred and recently downloaded all episodes after that again and am ready to start watching again.

Then came the movies. A few of them. Paprika and Princess Mononoke was one of them.

Paprika was something I'll never forget. I loved it so much, and still do!
The OST was so great! A drop filled with memories.

Then, Princess Mononoke. (This was all before I downloaded Anime myself) It was in English and it was my very first movie I watched in English without subtitles. It was a challenge but I did pretty well and enjoyed it.

Around this point I started downloading Anime myself.
Naruto Shippuuden, Claymore, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, Animal Crossing Movie, Spice and Wolf, He is my master (Don't ask xD) and a lot of other Anime series.

Claymore was really, really great. I wish they'd make another season.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (kai (season two)) was awesome too.
It's confusing at the start but while moving towards the end everything makes sense and an epic battle (realistic, too. Without the lasers and stuff) ends the second season pretty nicely.
I'm waiting for season three to get out on DVD.

Spice and Wolf was GREAT. The ONLY medieval movie I've seen that doesn't suck. It has some nice merchanting in it too.

I only watched He is my master's first few episodes. And then I got a new computer and now that and other great anime series are stuck on it. I'll get them on this computer soon though.

I also watched Season one of Clannad a while back and I'll probably start watching Clannad: afterstory's first few episodes and start following it.

There's also Soul Eater which is very original and fun.

Oh yeah! About Miyazaki:
Yesterday I watched Spirited Away, I somehow never saw it before.
And a few days ago Howl's Moving Castle.

And I'm also watching Hayate no Gotoku a lot lately.

Once I have some more time I'll watch Higofumi.

I have... Over 60 GB left to watch. So I'll have enough ways to spend my time.

I've been watching Death Note as my brother buys the disks.
It's actually written really well. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I haven't seen any of Totoro yet, but I'd try it.

Totoro was the first one I saw. Then Porco Rosso, much later Spirited Away and just lately Kiki's delivery service. Oh and.. about a year ago I saw Princess Mononoke, it was rather scary in my opinion.

When I was in upper secondary school, they were arranging anime nights but the one time I went there they'd changed it to start earlier than all the ads said, so when I went there, there was only half an hour left or so and I didn't quite understand the plot. I felt pretty out of place. I don't remember if they arranged any more of those, actually.

I used to watch all the anime videos in the library in one point, I think nowadays they have more of them but in that point it was pretty limited. They had stuff like occultism, and I think all of them had sex. Weird stuff like some sort of maggots or something growing inside a person and bursting out. Or one had a lot of demons. In fact I think several of them had a lot of demons. Overall it was very disturbing. One thing I enjoyed watching (mostly) was Akira but even that was pretty weird with the end, of turning into a huge blob that swallows people. It's like straight out of a nightmare. I also saw Ghost in the Shell when I was 16 I think, and it was in some ways impressive but I think it also had something disturbing in it. Thinking of the movies makes me feel sort of anxious. What is it with the Japanese and people bursting apart like they were made of goo?

Edit: I drew this picture to grasp some of the aspects that are bothering me. It didn't look creepy enough but then I added those tentacle like appendages and that gave me shivers. It's the lower left corner that holds some secret essence of creepiness. If someone gets disturbed then let me know and I'll remove the picture. I just wanted to share my anxiety so that I wouldn't have to carry it alone.

Now and Then Here and There was one I saw on Animonday on SciFi and LOVED IT! Gurren Lagann is cool too but (I think it was the second season) when they grew up was kinda lame. Watched it to the point where the get the moon base but still didn't really like it.

I like Fooly Cooly as its called by my friends... or was.

Cowboy Beebop was cool too.

Naruto is okay, but it's just american anime...and besides, Naruto means Fish Cakes...I mean wtf?

Death Note owns, Cowboy Bebop too, other than that I like InuYasha, Samurai Shamploo, Gundam Wing, G-Gundam...pretty much all the gundam shows except for the Gundam Seed ones...I also watch Ghost in the Shell S.A.C., and too many others to name.

Miyazaki is a GOD when it comes to anime movies, Nausicaa and Spirited Away are my favs.

But my all time favorite anime EVER is a 30 minute short horror film called Kakurenbo. Everyone here should watch it. The year it was released it won an award for best short film of the year...or best short horror film, can't quite recall which.

Hmm. Intesting, the only anime films I have watched is the Porco Rosso, Kiki's delivery service and Prinsess Mononoke the same as yo Seko. I didn't get much of what happen in Porco Rosso,(can be I never sed the english sub) and I think it's four years ago now. Seko, when did these come to Finland,I think they came later, or?

Well, anime is great, exept Dragon ball Z were they fight one Master evil ten episodes and then comes the next one.

One piece is the best on I've seen, Should check out Death Note sometime, but ´haven't have time.

Thanks for expressing this and making the drawing. I think it helps me face some of the issues I've got with Akira.

I thought Akira was kinda cool up until the disturbing end. One of the lead female characters gets caught in folds of growing blubbery fat, crushing her to death in a burst of blood. I was so shocked and saddened by that one image, it completely ruined the movie for me. I liked the character, and her death wasn't even any kind of heroic sacrifice; just sudden, gory, horrific tragedy. Awful.

Spirited Away is my favorite Miyazaki piece. Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke are cool, with fascinating characters and setting. I haven't heard of Nausicaa... I'll have to look that one up.

Porco Rosso is much more mature than other Miyazaki movies. I didn't like it very much when I was a kid but later I've learned to appreciate it. It's subtle, open ended and has beautiful music. Spoilers can be found online.

According to all-knowing Wikipedia, Totoro was shown on TV in 1995 (that's when we taped it) and got to the theaters in 2006.

Acording to IMDb.com, Porco Rosso was also shown on TV in 1995 and came to the theaters March 2008.

Princess Mononoke first shown in Finland 2001.

Kiki's delivery service: March 2007.

When I was staying at my grandma's place (while she was still alive) I started watching Dragon Ball Z and it was kinda addictive even though things didn't progress much. They might have an episode full of training and boasting and repeating what's going to happen in this episode and the next episode and "Will this happen? Find out next!"
