Re: Anime
I just discovered today on youtube that not only did Japan export a LOT of cartoons to the US, but we returned the favor. There are a boatload of Hanna Barbera cartoons of the 60s and 70s that were exported to Japan (e.g. Sinbad, Jr, Dastardly and Muttley in their Flying Machines, Groovie Goolies, The Impossibles, Shazzan, The Herculoids, Josie and the Pussycats) that made the trek the other way across the Pacific. And often, their theme music was much better in the Japanese version (heck, I used to love the American music and lyrics to Marine boy, and today, I just heard the original Japanese version. MUCH cooler!) (it seems only in Speed Racer/Mach Go Go Go did they keep the same music and just change the lyrics)

Re: Anime
Japan goes absolutely ape-shit crazy about Disney movies.
Also, Hulu has A LOT of anime on it now and A LOT of it is in Japanese with subtitles.
