Recently on FFF.net we were made aware that Blue Sun Corporation really does exist and found their website. It seems they work on biodiesel fuel and agriculture. And guess who the CEO of the corporation is.....JEFF PROBST, the host of Survivor. Now this has spawned a number of theories and how it could be the future.

Jeff stated last night on the "Let's give Rupert a million dollars" show that he was an ordained minister. Just shows to go ya that there is a lot more to people than you might first expect.

a few general things:

-I wonder how much effect the bio fuel industry will have on the prices of farm products grown for human consumption, both in the U.S. and abroad.

-Anyone know offhand for how long farm products have been getting less and less valuable (in the U.S.)?

-I wonder how many farmers will consider it better/necessary to grow for non-human consumption, and how that compares to the number of contracts available in the fledgling industry.

-Will someone please comment on (last years/two years ago?) situation in Germany (other European countries?), where vehicles were running out of gas on the roadways and such. I.E.: Was this because gas was too expensive, or was there a large shortage, or both?

-I seem to recall that there was a serious drought in Europe (last summer/the one before?), which affected European farming industries. Will someone comment on how such industries are doing in various European states at present, and whether its better or worse than what is considered typical?

-Apparently, 25% or so of vehicles in the U.S. are able to run on biofuel without any modifications to those vehicles. Anyone know which vehicles are able to do so without modifications? (I doubt any SUVs are, although new ones are being made with that capability, so I hear.)

-Where does the U.S. stand compared to other countries that are developing alternative fuel industries (for vehicles)?

To point #2:
Ever since the post-civil war industriallization made it to the western states with mechanical reapers and such, farm prices have fallen to 'unacceptably low' levels whenever not propped up by some sort of government activity.

If people would stop growing food they can't sell it might bring the industry back to a profit.

This is kind of funny because it is obvious that none of you saw Firefly.

The ironic part about this is that there is a Blue Sun Corporation in Firefly that is sort of a conglomerate with the Anglo-Sino government called the Alliance. The worlds that are inhabited in Firefly are terraformed looka like Earths and it was this so called Blue Sun Corporation in Firefly that pioneered this and one would believe that tarraforming a planet would have something to do with bio fuel since it would be an almost infinite fuel as long as you have places to grow the plants. Plus, it would be a multi-billion dollar industry if it worked and replaced fossil fuels so the governments would have their hands all over it and it could lead to such a merging of government and corporate world which is the basis of the Blue Sun Corporation and Alliance merge in the show.

Plus, many people accredit the crap of reality tv in destroying Firefly and other good quality shows. Jeff Probst is the host of Survivor the real first pop culture reality tv network show. Jeff Probst is also the president of the Blue Sun Corporation.

Now that is totally ironic.

The show is actually called Firefly. It IS a Joss Whedon show however it
only ran for a partial season. The show was killed by Fox Executives
bumblings with time slots and airing episodes out of order. I DEFINATLY
suggest you check it out. The DVD's can be rented or purchased now and
the fanbase has only grown since the show went off the air. In fact the
fanbase is what caused the DVD's to be released (so the show could be seen
in proper order for one thing and to include 3 unaired episodes) and the
sales of the DVD's caused Universal pictures to sign Joss and the entire
cast on for a movie which, depending upon ITS success may turn into either
a trilogy of movies or a revamped show (or both if we're lucky).
