Ernest Hancock in a reply to an email:
One of my listeners turned me on to the DVD's and I watched them all in 3-4 days.

I got it right away (a freedom lover can spot another very easily). I asked for some fans to come forward and found that the libertarian movement was full of them. So I have one from Tucson driving up to Phoenix to be in studio and another from Phoenix. One is a computer engineer I think and the other is a biogenetics lab scientist. My listeners let me know that the movie was coming so I wanted to start getting Phoenix ready for the "Serenity Party" we'll be having on opening day :)

My show is very political and often serious but this series was really making a statement and ready to go places so I know I can use its message in a way that will get my audience interested in it. I understand why the suits either didn't have a clue or were not supportive of the message.

It'll be a lot of fun. I hope a lot of fans tune in to hear how much impact the series is having long after its cancellation (also wouldn't be bad for the suits to hear - the archive will be there forever for them to check it out)

Let me know if you need me to do anything to help you promote it. The Internet streaming is available as well as the archive that will have the show up within 3-24 hours.

Thanks for your interest,

Ernie

This FireFly business is really starting to take over a little too much here on the forum. I understand your enthusiasm, but please consider to attach future posts to existing FireFly threads.

Aw, it's all fun. It wouldn't be the same without all the Fireflyage =D

And that's a bad thing, somehow?

I tend to agree with Thomas. I love Firefly, but we have entirely too many redundant posts about it.

Dunno. I'm not a firefly fan, but I don't think there too many threads on Firefly.
And if I don't wanna read about firefly, I just ignore the threads...

I didn't read all these Firefly threads, but I just have one question. I hear two rumours:

1) they are talking about making a movie, which might be a success, and which might be the trigger to start a new series;
2) they are talking that Serenity might become the movie

If the two rumours are about the same fact, there is little chance of success, imho. I mean, I like the series so far (saw Serenity and two episodes), but the episodes are much better than Serenity, and Serenity is really not going to attract much, I think.

So, is Serenity being used to perhaps attract more viewers, or is there really another Firefly movie in the make?

No, no. There is a "Serenity" episode which was the pilot for the series. Joss Whedon, the creator, is making a "Serenity" movie with Universal which is something completely different from the pilot which is also called "Serenity". The two will have completely different storylines.

The "Serenity" movie will take place 6 months where the series left off. "Serenity" is still in preproduction and will go into production this summer according to the recent press release from Universal.

The radio show I guess will be talking about the series and the upcoming movie.

Very confusing, I know. I hope that clears it up.

Note that one of the thread was created by Hunter and not I.

It's not only hope now but Universal has acutally officially greenlighted the movie. Now it is all up Joss Whedon to make a great movie that will hopefully stay true to the series. There is also another problem in that Alan Tudyk (who plays Wash) and Ron Glass (who plays Book) have not signed for one reason or another (though rumor has it that they will). But all the other original cast members have already signed and Universal told Joss to shevle the original movie script that was going to wrap up the story and told him to write a new movie script to possibly relaunch the series. So there is always hope.
