Dangerous electrical/electronic 'toys'

Postby The Industriallist » Mon Feb 16, 2004 5:25 am

I have a disassembled microwave. I just felt that I should tell everyone that. I am hoping to also obtain a stripped electric cord with plug soon.

HEHEHE.... ZZZZAP (oops)

Gah... where is everyone?

When I was little, my bath toy was a toaster.
I'm not dead; I'm dormant.

What really does happen when someone sticks their fingers into an electrical outlet?

the current runs through your body. if it's two fingers on the same hand, it will mostly just go through your hand. if it's a finger on each hand, the current goes mostly right across your heart. that's when you run into problems. of course you can't actually fit your fingers into the slots, but you can do it with keys or paperclips or something.

I did it a couple of times when I was little.
Well, not really. What I did was touch the metal part of the plug when I was pulling it out, so that some of the electricity went through my fingers. It was a pretty nasty jolt.
The second time was when I tried to use my multimeter on a wall socket, when I was almost as crazy and self-destructive as I am now. The multimter was rated for the voltage, but I made the mistake of turning it to the wrong setting. It went "bang" and made a bright flash. One of the leads on the multimeter was melted.

Bah. . . Who cares about your little zappy toys. . . I'm making dangerous chemicals. Well, soon. Well, eventually. When a New York City apartment blows up, has a hole metled in its floor or has smoke pouring out of it, you'll know it was me. :D

Industrialist, don't you dare make that microwave Sho-fryer you were talking about. . . I'll plant a kilogram gunpowder bomb under your desk at school. Or maybe flood the classroom with chlorine. I don't know. . . I'll think of something.

Are we trying to attract fedral attention here?

Incidentally, I think that the basic design of a rail gun should wwork equally well with AC or DC. So if you bridged your main power line fuze, you could possibly shoot a piece of copper wire through a city block, or some such. I can't figure out how to calculate the current/voltage you would need, though.

They're going to arrest half the people on this board as political and terrorist prisoners with all the crap we say on here... hopefully we will be in the same prison, with internet so we can still play Cantr... or set up a Cantr server on the prison LAN.

What sort of device would I like to have?

A vechicle mounted electro-magnetic pulse generator with all componets on my car shielded from the same.

Cut me off will ya? *poof* No more chips running your car engine. Mwah.

Fun. Sort of. Except that the best way I know of of EMP hardening is using vacuum tubes in place of transistors. Not pretty at all. Also, the efects of EMP on people are not at all known... but I'm sure no one has been that close to one.

How about a wire-free electical gun. An ionizing-radiation laser shoulb be able to create low-resistance tracks in the air for an electric discharge.
