Well, now that Barack Obama has soundly defeated Mcain, I'm really happy! But actually, how do you guys feel about it?

Oh, come on. Can the only good leaders be stuff like dictators, kings, queens, and so on? Can't there be a good frickin' president, at least now that the democrats are in charge?

I'm quite optimistic that he won't screw up totally. I'm not quite sure though that he will survive his term.

I'm all for Obama and I feal he will do what he can do.

Bah. It's just that I don't really like America for a lot of things. ("Oh yay, everyone's free here. Except for the ones who are 'less'" that's what america is, no?)

And he's apparently supposed to solve economic stuff. Why not get rid of money alltogether?

Um no, thats not based on actual government. That is based on the citizens of America. So in a sence you are right but thats because more then half the country is racist!

Don't think he's gona 'solve' anything. He will adjust things and if they do not work he will adjust them back. America doesn't really fix anything we tweak untill its just right.

Besides if he does anything too drastic there will be problems. Still lots of uneducated hicks in this country. All of Texas for one. (Well I shouldn't say that cause Florida is really bad too and I live here.)

Instead of focusing on what helps 'america' (aka themself), they should focus on equal rights and just put anyone who doesn't like that in jail. >_>

I'd have said no for either a victorious Obama or McCain.
Being an Alberta boy and a Canadian in general, I'm worried about Obama being a little too "inward", especially when it comes to economic issues. I can't believe how much the land of the free abuses and bypasses NAFTA as they please. Hopefully Obama will realize that free trade, especially with my country, would serve more mutual good than protectionism. A lot of people will put him in the history books for being the first black president. It'd be more groundbreaking if he was the first President to actually back up his country's international promises.

Then again, there's more good to come out of it overall. He was the better choice, by far. Glad you Americans didn't put the world through another Republican gong-show. He'll the most well-spoken president I've seen in my lifetime, and he appears to be the most intelligent as well. At least there shouldn't be any more bogus wars sparking up out of thin air. Plus it opens up opportunities nobody would even have bothered to try under Bush. I think Ottawa has already contacted Obama to discuss North American environmental policies, which I'm pretty damn glad to see. Bush was probably too busy trying to keep bible study in public schools and barring scientists from conducting potentially life saving research.

That won't ever happen, not in my lifetime at least. You see the country is currently being governed by said racists. Obama will help with this a little but its still run by "the good 'ol boys" and that will not change for a long while.

Thats funny but so true! Whoo lets push one religion and ban science. The republicans have been pushing this for years. Mostly Democrate in the white house now so this should peter off a bit. I am a firm beliver of keeping economics inward myself but thats my opinion. I think things that are imported should be taxed so much more then they are now. I feal this would encourage buying american resulting in jobs etc. But it would also result in making some groups to feal left out because they can only get certain native or religous food's via import. What ever I'm not a politiction

personally I didn't like either of them, but I voted for Obama. Kind of like a lesser-of-two-evils thing you know? And I'm sorry to say that our country is foolish to make this entire thing all about race. We supposedly try so hard to eliminate all racism, but the only thing we achieve is that we not only drive a wedge between our races, but end up acting racist towards ourselves instead. I'm still unsure about how Obama will do as well. It seems a bit iffy at the moment.

You should read a little book called "Black Like Me" by John Howard Griffin. You'd really like it. The author dyes his skin black and travels the deep south to try to see the world through the eyes of the black community, walk a day (or 3 weeks) in their shoes. Only about 200 pages, and you can probably buy a used copy over amazon for 1 cent, plus shipping. (6 bucks?)
