Shadowrun

I'm dipping back into a cyperpunk phase, and I noticed there is a serious lack of games in that theme. Outside of Deus Ex and a few others, there really isn't much.
My brother mentioned the Shadowrun paper and pen rpg a little while ago, and it sparked my curiousity. Has anyone played it? I have no idea as to what it would even entail, and it's tough to find a real explanation on the web.

Cyberpunk will never die!

I'm not a big PnP fan, but I know that shdaowrun PnP (the comp. game is bloody awful) was popular - kinda cyberpunk meets swords and sorcery as far as I can tell.

As for computer games, the theme is hardly lacking in games... (I've listed loads around here already). Though most are fairly old. Try out the dystopia mod for HL as an initial suggestion for a recent one. The old Blade Runner game just cannot be beat.

I played shadowrun briefly and never got into it. The mechanics are different than other PnP RPG games, and the universe is pretty strange (think D&D shot forward to the year 2200 - dragons with cybernetics...too strange for me).

I used to play a game called Cyberspace. Wasn't even that popular in the 90's, and it literally took an hour to make a single character, but once you got going, it was fun. The critical hit tables were hilarious. Good luck finding that game now though.

I tried Dystopia. It would have been better if it didn't run so sluggishly on my computer. It was cool how they threw cyberspace into it. really neat.

I seem to recall the old PC/Amiga game 'Syndicate' being referred to as Cyberpunk. You should be able to find it to d/l somewhere quite easily.

If we're going for computer games rather tha PnP, to not play System Shock 2 is just, like, blasphem, dude...

Dystopia's quite good. I'm not a fan of FPS mutliplayer games much though. The cyberspace was very reminiscent of (original) System Shock cyberspace.
