Hello, I wanted to know if You know any games similar to Cantr?
I know only one:
Roma Victor:
http://www.roma-victor.com/
It's not free, but you have only to pay a one time payment (20 GBP), and there are no monthly fees. I suppose it is not very expensive. Offcourse you can buy ingame money for real money, but you can freely play and without this (I play it half a year and have never bought ingame money, it is enough and those which you get at the start, the other you get via trading).
It's 3D, but the graphics arent very amazing, nevertheless its a good game. Tons of skills and items to produce (some a very hard for one person to do):

If you have some spare money you should really try it

I give Roma Victor 9 from 10.
P.S. Offcourse Cantr is better
Do you know similar to Cantr games? Please share the names here

Allowing people to buy game cash with real cash is the quickest and easiest way to ruin a game. I'll never play another game that does that.

But as I said you don't have to do this. It is 100% possible and more fun to play without this option. It's a open ended sandbox style game like cantr, they are really similar. Besides the game has a little more than 5000 players, of which not all are active, and most of them are experienced players and not all about stealing and killing. Most people I meet do very much RP, but yes some just spend money and get everything more quickly (like a house), others like me work hard and long but still get the same
But Yes I agree with, most games are ruined by that, but that doesn't fit to Roma Victor, if you would try it you would know it

I second that.
Only played a few of such games, because it causes a great imbalance between those that can pay and those that can't, or those that will and those that won't.
Be it in the form of in-game money or other in-game benefits, it totally ruins the whole gameplay when one player has to spend a long time and a lot of work for what some would consider scraps, while another simply whips out a creditcard and buys himself into a position from where he can whizz on the non-paying guy's head, so to speak.
As for games similar to Cantr...
Many years ago I came across something that had some things in common with Cantr, but it croaked due to a much too small community (there just weren't enough players for the owner to justify running the server).

Human-age works pretty well even though there are donators and free players. Although that's nothing like Cantr. But the system works. Everybody has a chance of getting robbed but usually it's just the newbies that go robbing people and in age two there are no newbies, because you need to complete age one before you can advance to age two. And also in age two you can choose which tribe to loot from, so if someone robs somebody they may have the whole tribe attacking their tribe. Since people are distributed into tribes randomly, they remain pretty equal in size. Also mods regularly switch tribes to stay unbiased. Donators can buy special equipment that helps them earn money faster but those things expire in like a week. Also they can buy idols that give some benefits, but it's completely possible to survive without any gods on your side. Also idols can be sold on the market so people who only have ingame money also have a chance of buying them. I'm not getting credits for advertising but if you decide to give it a try, mark Tariel as your sponsor.

It looks like game for kids. I hate 3D.

There are many games that are similar to Cantr in some aspects, but not many (if any) that match Cantr in most aspects. I have been playing a free text based zombie game that doesn't have NPCs. Both zombies and survivors are played by people. I think it is fun, so you should try it out if that sounds interesting to you.

Thank you, it sounds nice, I will try it.
KeVes it is childish to say something about a game (or anything else) which you haven't even tried

Roma Victor seems very impressive indeed. I can't find anything about system requirements though. I suspect my computer is too old to run it.

Oh and how could I forget to mention Second life?

At this time it's the most popular online game (more than 6 millions active users!). I myself haven't played it, but read about it a lot in lots of magazines. Well but I think it's worth a try, maximum RP guarantied:)

Eh.. Second Life is not so great from what I've seen. I guess I didn't get to the RP parts. It's just very complex. And lots of people that just want to cyber. I'd rather play the Sims. It's more like the Sims anyway rather than Cantr. (And doesn't WoW have like 7 million active users? Maybe it's gone down.)

You can't really say "maximum rp guaranteed" because Second Life is not a role-playing game. Most users create a character that's quite like them in real life, except that the Internet personality is likely to be prettier and more daring than the real life personality. It's the same things what people do in online dating sites, they hide the fact that they're obese, with crooked teeth, mousy hair and bad skin. The avatar or character is only a mask for the player and has no personal goals or wishes. If you're truly role-playing then your character will make choices that are unwise, even if you as a player knew this. The character will have separate knowledge and may also be supposed to know things the player does not know. (For example one of my characters is very good at making swords so I have a hard time trying to sound like an expert even though in real life I know very little about them.)

I just found something that says WoW had 8 million members on January 12th, 2007...it really is that popular
I have to admit, the Human Age thing has definitely perked my interest. My ties to Runescape give me the ability to respect virtual games. Even Jos said he didn't intend Cantr to be limited only to a text-based game.

Cool. I know when the South Park episode came out last fall, they were talking about 7 million members. Didn't know if it increased or was slowly decreasing since then.
