Flash Movie Idea

Postby UloDeTero » Fri Aug 17, 2007 10:39 pm

Just wondering if anyone here knows how to use Flash.

I've got a movie idea, just at the concept stage, and wondering how easy or difficult it might be to make. I'd most likely need a lot of help to pull it off, anyway. Anyone remotely interested, please PM me.

Thanks

PS - I have no knowledge of Flash, which is why I need the advice of an expert.

I know how to use it, alas not too well, but well enough to know that if you've no practice you're not going to be able to make a movie yet, start small, practice a little, then try and make something full length

It is difficult. One of the first things you should realize is that each of the tiny black dots or circles on the time represents a different frame and if you have copied or drawn a picture in several frames and decide you want to change it's placement, if you try to move the picture in just one of the frames, the other frames will remain unchanged. So if you wanna move an object in all the frames at once and not just one of them, you need to click this button that has an alt text saying something like edit multiple frames. And the line that appears above the frames marks how many of them are selected and you can change that. Meh, most likely this sounds all shady. The main thing is a movie is going to take months to make if you want it to be any better than stickdeath or a slideshow. There are a lot of tutorials on Albinoblacksheep.com. Also the program costs damn much... I can use it at school but it'd only available in one of the classrooms, and sometimes that room is taken.

Well, I'll look into Flash myself one day, but I know my limitations. I also know that there are talented Flash artists out there just waiting for an interesting project to work on. If I can get this moving, I'd also be looking for other people to do voice acting, character design, etc.

I believe it can be done entirely by amateurs if need be. Look at Minushi. That was created pretty much by just one guy, and it took him years to finish it. I want to gather a small team, and put this thing together quickly! It probably won't win any awards, but it'd be cool to work on and be apart of.

Any advice is appreciated. :)

Edited to add: Any more advice would be appreciated, as is the advice already given. Thanks guys.

As a side note, perhaps Cantr could be redesigned to run in Flash. It would allow for much smoother interface, animations, etc. Well, all that could be done now, in normal HTML, I guess. But maybe it'd be better in Flash. *shrugs* Twas just a thought.

Edited again to add:

FYI, I made enquiries on Newgrounds, and provided a short synopsis which I'll reproduce here:
In the distant future, in a world of spaceships (and possibly regular contact with alien life), the people of Earth notice the stars starting to disappear one by one. As they wonder about this, they discover that the stars are being snuffed out by an immense and mysterious force which comes to be known as the Wall of Oblivion (or something similar). As it looms ever closer, their efforts to destroy it fail miserably. With all hope lost, and the unstoppable Wall approaching, a band of misfits set off on a desperate quest to fulfil an ancient prophecy which promises to save them all.

Again, if anyone's interested (even if you just want to offer support or give ideas) send me a PM.

Thanks :)
