From my interpretations of the news articles the International Space Station won't last much longer unless they get those Russian computers fixed in about 3 days... I might not be understanding it right but this sounds like really bad news for all those countries that gave (borrowed) millions of dollars to have the thing built...

That's only the worst scenario.
They can still go down, pick some duct tape and go back to fix it.

I'm not sure they can do that for several reasons:
1. Once the space shuttle leaves the ISS the ISS will start to be hit by big flying chunks of junk that the space shuttle is currently using its boosters to avoid (the ISS's computers that ussually do that crashed)
2. The space shuttle only has about 2 days worth of fuel left so I doubt they could get another space shuttle ready to go up by the time this one has to come down
Note: They were able to get some of the computers to reboot so hopefully the important ones will follow soon.

It looks like they got the problems basicly fixed.
