Funny thing is that such things do or did exist for children. I remember my parents use to have one for me. They were always paranoid that I would get taken or walk off in a store or something so they put me on a leash type thing that went around my wrist. I still remember that. Not sure if they exist anymore and my parents don't use one anymore for my sister nor did they for my younger brother. It sucks being the first born. They are always too protective of you but the next few they don't give a damn about. I wasn't allowed to watch rated R movies until 15 (though I was able to sneak a view) now my parents have allowed my sister to watch rated R movies and she is only 7. I think it is more the fact that they don't care anymore.

No, they don't mean the same thing. Just a mixture of the two, really. And actually I do prefer realist art over most forms of other art if that means anything which I don't think it does.

To have realist and idealist in the same space with conservative defies the laws of physics.

Stuff may hit the fan but not in your lifetime and you will be amazed at the self corrective capability of the chaotic system and reality in which we live.

It is like evolution. Every "wrong turn" is just really another turn. The is no "right turns". Well expect in New Jersy where there is no "left turns" only those weird circle loopy things.

Just to go off topic slightly: What is a rated 'r' movie? does it stand for 'retarded' (Or maybe i play to much GTA - VC)

I've been active on the forums for a while and I still rarely agree with you, especially with regaurds to politics. Not that I think your a bad person or anything... just not sthe type of person I tend to agree with.

And how can you be a realist and an idealist? Those are antonyms

Yeah, I love GTA to...and to fill you in on american movie ratings:

G - General Audiences (everyone)

PG - Parental Guidence Suggested for children

PG13 - Parental Guidence Suggested if under 13

R - Must be accompanied by parent or guardian if under 17

NC17 - Restricted to 18 and older, basically soft porn

Here's what I have to say to that.

I saw my first PG-13 movie at 8, and my first rated R movie at 13. Which is strange for most people I know.

Oh, and Vice City is awesome! I've played it before but now I hear about it all the time from Chris. (who got an XBOX for Christmas and thinks he can be addicted to Cantr, video games, and have a girlfriend at the same time, which is psychically impossible.) XD

I think I understand what rklenseth might mean by realist and idealist, and I think that it's true of me to some extent, just in a different way. I expect the worst but know that it will all turn out for the best eventually. The realist part is rather more prominent, and the "hop around and make funny noises because nothing you do will change anything" part gets the upper hand most of the time. If I had to choose a philosophical doctrine, it would probably be Stoicism.

As I said, you can dream of a better future, perhaps a perfect future, that things will turn out right and that dreams may and can come true (being an idealist) while at the same time you know that things might not turn out right that the shit will hit the fan (which is a realist). It is possible to be an idealist and a realist at the same time.

I saw my first r rated movie, 2 years ago I think, when I was 13...but it was on TV so it was mostly edited...
