Neither... They should call friends "white" lol. There in the middle of New York, yet hard pressed to find one Black or Puerto Rican at all or most other ethnic minorities for that matter. T.V. is segregated more than public schools ever were for the most part. What kind of message does this send to children? Blacks and Whites should be seperate?

The argument that T.V. does not highly influence youth culture is false. (I doubt American suburbanite whites would be listening to rap et cetra without MTV and other radio outlets, it was not pure original demand that made Rap-R&B mainstream in youth culture, it was increased prevalence in mainstream channels) So T.V. can act as a catalyst for societal change, or act as an albatross for social stagnation. Personally, I don't listen to Rap, and I grew up during its flowering in the mainstream, but many many do, and as a result hear the message of continued racial injustice as a by product. (which anyone who tells you racism isn't alive and well in America is either ignorant of its prevalence or lying or has grown up in an area where it isn't as noticable) I live in one of the few regions of America where there is a large well-off minority class, which may have distorted my view, had I not lived in Tenessee for 3 months while attending public schools where racism was prevalent even among teachers.

EDIT: And for American Comedy Sitcoms... hands down Reno 911!
