Oblivion
Who here has The Elder Scroll IV: Oblivion for computer? I was thinking of buying it in a few days. And if you do have it what are you thoughts about the game and the game play.

Real fun game, good level of open-endedness, and the plot writers are awesome, lots of unexpected twists. In terms of how to play it, I found that although the game has no techincal "classes" It's best to stick to one method of combat per character. For example if you want to be able to fight with magic then don't also use melee or archery b/c the enemies level with you, and it will get really hard at around level 15ish if you try to "multi-class" (My high-elf can't do 6 points of damage with his dagger, but he has spells that do over 300. Combine that with his ability to make uber-mana potions and that spell will wipe a group of Deadra chain-gun style
) . Sidenote: I've never played the original Morrowind, but from what I've heard from others who have it's not that much of an improvement in terms of game-play, it also doesn't take as long to win b/c they added quicktravel so there's not as much wonderering around. Personally I like the quick travel though.

#004400 is my favorite color.

I have the same problem with game performance. Graphics setting are the lowes possible, but views are still awesome. I wonder how it has to look like with the best settings

System like that exist in every crpg game:) From the other side If we would be able to win every fight with first level character it would make leveling pointless as well;) Be glad we don't have leveling in Cantr!

Yes, enemies level with the character, but not with the character's equipment. That's why it is really important to go out and quest instead of building up levels in the first area. if you are high level with crap equipment, you are dead meat.

That's what I would like in every role-playing game, because everytime you play one without it you'll inevitably become more experienced and thus it'll be more easier to defeat your enemies. It'll end up not being a challenge anymore, making a reason to end your replay spree. That's how I like Dungeons and Dragons and Final Fantasy VIII; you'll be able to fight with those who grow like you do. I've not played Oblivion, by the way.Zanthos wrote:Yes, enemies level with the character, but not with the character's equipment. Also, not everything levels at the same rate. a level 10 mudcrab is no match for a level 10 main character, while at level 1 the mudcrab could have given you some difficulty. However, another level 10 guy might give you a run for your money and could very well kill you, because you arent well enough equiped.
Personally, my favorite RPG is Baldur's Gate and BG2, though Morrowind is a close third (never played oblivion, but its basically the same as morrowind except MUCH prettier)

Ah, i could do with some help too. I'm not a huge rpg player but i've been wondering which one to get for my comp. Currently it's between Diablo 2 and Neverwinter Nights. Although having just looked at Morrowind, that looks pretty sweet too and the 1st person perspective appeals greatly.
My comp can run WoW, but i'm not interested in paying monthly fees for anything.
Any suggestions?
