I get that quite often too - it wasn't my eyesight, I just have a really bad setup in my office.Solfius wrote:I hate it when I'm trying to study, but my eyes feel too tired to look at the screen, even though I'm not feeling tired...
That's not a bad sign is it? perhaps I ought to take a break...
You probably know this, but, anyway; make sure that the screen isn't the brightest light source in the room, and that there is a diffuse source such as light from a window, or ceiling lamp (i.e: not a desk lamp).
Play with the contrast/brightness - I have a different setting when I'm reading through PDF articles or typing my dissertation, so that the vblack on white isn't too much that it glares, or too little that I have to strain.
Also - I can't remember where I heard this - but put something on the wall behind or above the monitor - something that has text on it - in a position that you have to re-focus when you look up to read it.
I hate it when I know I have a shit load of work to do, but can;t, for anything, find the motivation to do it.

The light in my room is a separate rant... from about midday onwards I don't get sunlight shining in, and my desk is as far from the window as it can get... the light is poor and even now when it's good daylight outside I'm tempted to switch a lamp or light on.
My lovely glass fronted screen also catches what light there is an has terrible glare.
Perhaps a small light fitted above my desk would help.

My sister and I visit our dad's house every summer and winter. My sister decides she wants to take pictures of the house, so people back home know what it looks like. Step-mom asks what she's doing, sister tells her. For whatever reason, my step-mom flips out and takes some sort of offense to this, as if we were spying on her. Like we would. She's about as interesting as some sand in the desert. So she gets my sister crying, pisses me off. Sister calls mom and mom get's pissed. And our step-mom gets even more angry that my sister called our mom because she was upset. The takes her kids, our half-brother and -sister, and drives off.
Wow I'd like to punch that woman right now.

Rant of the day:
Waiting all day to deal the killing blow to a char only 4% from death, only to miss.
Waiting all next day to deliver that killing blow, only to miss again...
Times like this, project based combat seems all the more appealing
Edit: On a lighter note, I've just found out that my "original sounding" character name is also shared by a semi-famous pick-up artist. Goes to show what useless trivia you can learn by reading spam mail. So far, my character shows no signs of taking after his namesake

Why does everyone want to put me away lately?
Okay, I may be a TINY LITTLE BIT NERVOUS because my money is running out, and I don´t have a job, and even the most optimistic people tell me I won´t find a job here, and I can´t afford moving away, and I´m not entitled to unemployment pay which would help me move somewhere where there are jobs because I´m living with my ex (how on earth that´s supposed to help me pay my bills is beyond me).
But all I hear is "Oooh poor dear, of course that´s a difficult situation you´re in, how about a nice long stay at a mental institution and a bunch of expensive antidepresants? That´ll help you." NO IT WON´T. I don´t need happy pills, I need a job.

I remember thinking when the boys were little and I was alone and working full-time that a stay at the psych ward would have been something like a 5-star hotel getaway.

How crazy is that?

I need to go back to school soon but I don't think I'll be able to accomplish much. It's my fourth year, people are supposed to start writing their final year project but I'm nowhere near that stage. And I feel like the teachers don't care about what I'm doing. Now I haven't been working on my own stuff that's supposed to be fun, I'm just watching Babylon 5 and reading books and trying to play Cantr. Sometimes I think it would be easier to die, but my characters' responsibilities give me a reason to live. If Cantr fails, I'm not sure if the rest is worth living for.
