Seko, what about your dad? If your mum is agitated when he's around and more relaxed when he's gone then he won't see the difference. Are you friends with him?

Likewise I get along with dad well when mom is not around. But when they are together then I want to withdraw from the situation so that I wouldn't have to hear mom's complaining and bickering and dad getting loud every time he thinks mom or someone else is being stupid. Dad thinks that he knows everything and everyone else should know the same things. If someone answers a question wrong, it sounds like it causes him pain so it's better to stay silent if you're not completely sure. And he likes to quiz us about classical music, history and such.

Ah, the really important things. Your father isn't a teacher by any chance?

I'm really sorry that I can't offer any advice about educating your parents. Mine found a elegant solution for their problems over a decade ago.

No, he's not a teacher. He never got higher education but has studied things of interest on his own. Mom suspects he has Asperger syndrome too.

Hah. I once suspected me to have it too. The problem with Asperger's is that it's much like ADS. It blends more or less seamlessly into normal human behaviour and is perhaps just a term coined to sound important. I mean, do I suffer from UBHS (unusual body height syndrome) just because I'm 6 foot 4 inches tall? I don't think so.
It's easy to find some kind of disorder when there are so many around and people keep inventing new ones all the time. Especially when a little disorder offers convenient excuses for many things...

Wow, I'm ranting. I didn't intent to.

I'm rapidly growing weary of children. My character is surrounded by characters played by children. I interact with these characters, who are awake and competent, build relationships and trust, and then BAM!, it's the end of term, and these characters fall asleep without any notice whatsoever. They are holding tools I need. Jobs need to be done. My character needs to talk to somebody. Anybody! I'm really tired of it. I know it's just a game, but I also understand that other's enjoyment depends on other's characters, so when I have to go quiet, I let people know.

Now my character is alternatively contemplating suicide or going on a killing spree of all these people that have betrayed and abandoned him. I mean, seriously, what's my charrie to think when a town of 5 active characters suddenly goes silent?

I wish I could spawn a character in a town of characters played by responsible, working adults so I don't have to deal with this seasonal malaise. It's times like this that make me hate this game.

I was studying at college, and all my time at home was (and is) spent playing Cantr. Now it's the holidays I end up playing it even more.

Maybe the end of term sleeping is an American thing? :?

I know summer is sacred for us up in Canada. We have to use it up while we can.
It's still easy to find 5-15 mins here and there throughout each day to get some activity in. Travel vacations are the real killer.

Cantr is a great way to put off doing schoolwork (or, if you're an adult, real work). In the summer, with menial jobs (with no internet access), friends and fun, there's no time or reason to procrastinate, so Cantr gets shoved aside.

I sure as heck know what when I'm on a fun vacation with no internet access, I don't miss this game at all. It just sucks when it happens simultaneously to half the players in the game.

I agree with you Doug. When out doing something with friends or family, Cantr isn't missed at all. My only problem with missing a certain amount of Cantr is the same problem I have with missing school. Playing catch-up, and getting behind on information.

I've been on vacation so I haven't managed to get on a computer each day. But nothing drastic happened. Well, except one of my characters lost a friend but I doubt I could've prevented it even if I had been more active. In fact the game seems more interesting at the moment when I've spent a couple of days away from it.

You know I really am angry at players who cannot and refuse to distinguish real life from the game. Those who constantly harrass both staff and other players because they can't seem to get over and do not like the results of in game issues. Those who assume things and do not have facts behind them in order to back up their assumptions and then make wild accusations to get some sort of satisfying payback oocly. And of course then there are those who spread rumors of others behind the scenes to rally support and intentionally cause issues for other players to hurt their reputation or just to get back at them only making themselves out to be fools later. Makes me a bit sad to see that some players cannot grow up and get over themselves and think beyond "me and my" and are not satisfied until they have destroyed the game for everyone else around them simply because they cannot handle what happens to their characters in game. I see more backbiting, backstabbing and harrassment here than I have seen anywhere in my life and it really is very sad and very ridiculous. So now I sit thinking to myself is this all worth it anymore? Is it time to move on? Do I give up a game I enjoy very much because of others who cannot seem to realize that it is just a game....is it worth it anymore?

Tell them to f*ck themselves with dynamite sticks. And make sure they're lit.

I hate constant reminders of things that still hurt like a b*tch. You start thinking it won't and then it does. It's rather overwhelming.

Oh well. Someday. Maybe someday.
