Raaaant: I am owwy and I have a feeling tomorrow will be worse. I worked from 8am to 8pm, then went to the best friends new apartment, since shes moving up here now from my hometown(yay!) to help move until now 11:30ish. Fuck moving. I'm sleeping here on the floor where I ended up because I couldn't balance getting my shoes off. Screw it.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
6:50 am. It could be that I've got up early, and that I'm checking the forums while I drink the coffee of my breakfast. But not.
Insomnia is back. And seen how things are going, it's planning to stay.
I'm too tired to even rant properly.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
When I was a little child, I was very difficult get up early. Normally, when I was sick, my improvement when night came was very evident, while during the day, I was very wrong.
Years and years I was fighting against what I thought was insomnia. I never took pills, only once and were suitable for kids, so not very strong, but I did everything to change my schedule and to that my body get used to get up early.
Impossible.
I have adapted my life to my biological clock. I'm going to sleep at dawn and my alarm goes off about 11.30 am. I no longer struggle, I just accepted as I am and yes, I'm nocturnal. Maybe a creature that lives in Europe, and has hours to live life to the other side of the ocean or in China, or in some remote and strange place... but, while I continue living in Spain, I will continue being nocturnal until I die.

11:30am there is 5 or 6:30am here. If you worry about not getting up early enough, you should move here.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
I've always been a nocturnal creature. My energy begins to be at its high in the evening, raises up along the night, and is really low in the mornings. But, until a couple of years ago (and apart from some other insomnia and other sleep disorders episodes), I've managed to live a "normal" (regarding sleep) life, having a decent 6-7 hours of sleep (despite of my energy being high, I managed to sleep).
Unfortunately, this world is not made for nocturnal creatures. It doesn't care about if I'm nocturnal or not. I still have to get up in the mornings, and do the stuff one only can do during the daytime. For years, when I had a "conventional" job, and I had to get up early, I needed three coffees at the least to make it through the morning. Now, after more of two years of unlucky search for a job (spanish people will know how bad the labor market is over here now with this damn crisis), I've started my own business, and the kind of business allows me to set my own schedule, and yeah, except for a few exceptions, I schedule everything for the afternoons/evenings, so, even if I got up at 11:00 am, I still would have the time to do the stuff I need to do.
But the problem it's not me being nocturnal (I've got used to -not fit- in this world in so many ways). The problem is that, regardless the time of the day, I can't get the sleep my body needs. The little bit I manage is (luckily) in the late night, or (mostly) in the morning, yeah, but, just as an example, today I have only managed 3 hours of total sleep, and it has be broken several times by awakenings. I tried pills before, but the side effects were too bad for me to stand it, so, unless they find a magical new drug, pills are not an option.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
I agree with Theda, another nocturnal one. My absolutely absurd work schedules, added to my habitual chaotic rhythm of sleep, allows me to pass several days sleeping 3-4 hours, and when I think I'm close to die, then I sleep 8 hours and I'm ready to join this circle again. Fortunately, I work well this way. I don't know how I'll manage it when older.
I really envy those people who gets asleep in the moment they touch the pillow.
And the last thought of my 3 hours of sleep and 3 coffees brain is... Why the snorer one is always the first falling asleep?

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Have any of you ever tried valerian root or melatonin? They really helped me when I had to get sleep the night before a class that started before 10am and they don't really have side effects because they're just supplements. It doesn't sound like I had as much trouble sleeping as you three do so I'm not sure how much they'd do for you, but they definitely helped me get calmed down and sleepy before 3am. It's worth a try if you haven't already. *shrugs* Otherwise, I vote for Snickie's idea.

The more older I am, less I need sleep.

Nope, university. I've done financial work and hated it. People are ugly when it comes to money and I just can't empathize with those who aren't financially responsible. It's not MY fault that you make 5x more than me but can't manage to pay your bills.
I envy those of you who can start your day late. When I got this job, I started at 8am but I've slowly been creeping in later and later... Now I'm pushing 9am. Don't think I can get away with showing up later than that, though.

@masterekat: I had valerian root for years, and they helped a bit in my "normal" status. They don't work in severe insomnia.
If you're awake when that "snorer" falls asleep... how do you know that -you- are not the most snorer in the room?
