Are those the notorious topic-hijackers complaining?
Isn't it nice to ask several times to get back on topic?
Apart from that irony (if I am not mistaken about identities here, of course), I think, the current discussion is one of the more interesting ones. I don't know myself which of the theories is closest to the truth, since there's much that has to be taken into account, but I read it with interest.

I was thinking more in terms of the slight effect that cities have on the movement of tectonic plates and weather patterns. Not to mention cities are what brang about increased production and technology which brought about the ability to remove mass from the Earth in as large a quantity as is now possible.

so what you are saying is that humans are slowly "eating" the earth and that is messing up the rotation, and therefore humans are bringing about the end of the world just by burning resources and making skyscrapers....?
Here I am. BITE ME. or not, in fact, never mind, dont want some wacko taking me up on the offer. Only non wacko's may apply for bite allowance.. no garentee that you will be granted said allowance, but you can try.

The Greenhouse effect would actually cause an increase in the earth's mass. Less heat is radiated, causing the temperature to increase, and the heat energy raises the mass. Although that would be a very minor effect.
Hydro-electric power is entirely inside the closed system. There is no way it will effect overall rotational momentum

I thought it was something like that. So damming rivers does slow the rotation. Hard for me to remember all the specifics. Somehow I can drive the car without thinking about the friction and chemical reacations involved.
Ever use a home made corded electric lawnmower? Pretty easy to make. Pretty scary to use.

I guess the thought that your shoddy workmanship migh break up and hurl the blades at you would be a little unnerving. If I attatched a lawnmower blade to a powerful electric motor, I really don't think I would be putting it on a lawnmower chassis. More like the front of my car... if I had one.
Thanks for the return to topic.
