<dream>
I'm in New York City, with just my 10yo son. We are in the subway station waiting for the train. It comes, but my son delays getting on because he is being excessively polite. In fact, he is even tipping his hat, old-fashionedly, at a woman. I realize the car is too crowded for me to get on, so I go over to the next one, hoping my kid will be smart enough to follow me, or at least get on the train so I can reconnect with him later, but in fact, as the doors close, I realize he is still on the platform, and hasn't gotten on at all. He is crying. I yell out to him, "M__ M__!" (IRL, my local subway stop in my city, not New York, but in dreamworld, a few stops down in NYC), hoping he will take the next train there. But instead, he runs after the train, crying, and catches up to us at the next stop (the train doesn't go much faster than a running kid). I get off the train and going up the stairs is wave after wave of fruits (each wave one homogeneous group of fruit. but several different fruits altogether. Like something you might see in a candy/gum commercial). After the fruit clears we go up to the street level, and begin walking uptown. We meet a traffic cop who informs us that due to a water emergency, no laptops or electronic cameras are allowed to be used in NYC today. We continue on, and I note to my son how the foggy conditions are creating an optical illusion of buildings being where they are not supposed to be, actually reflections of the real buildings, blocks away in the other direction. It's at about this point that I realize that I'm walking with no real destination in mind, and that we're at 90th ave and 17th street (A neat trick, since there is no 17th street (the highest numbered street is 13th), and that would put us in the Middle of the Hudson River), and I'm afraid of the neighborhood we're heading into. We turn around, and dream abruptly shifts completely into:

I'm at home, in the backyard, and I decide for some reason to do some archaeological digging. I found some small handleless trowels. I remembered something about a dig where they were confused about digging tools they had found in a site that were completely anachronistic, but they (And now I) realized they were from an earlier archaeological attempt. I then realize it would be better to dig in my neighbors' yard, because they had moved out (true in RL [1]) and there were large holes already in their yard (not true in RL). I began by digging under their brick patio, and discovered another layer of brick, only really small bricks, like regular size LEGO blocks. Then, as it became dark, I decided to sleep in their home rather than going back over the fence (well, why not, they were moved out, eh?). In the morning, I realized that there was someone moving upstairs. I guess they had left someone behind to make sure no one, oh you know, like invades their house :oops: . And worse, the electricity hadn't been turned off like I thought [2], but apparently they had just had a temporary outage, and lights came on all over the house. I began to sneak from room to room, trying to stay one step ahead of them (and apparently (almost?) the whole family was actually home), I made it to the back door, but just as I slipped out, their (17yo, maybe?) daughter held out her hand to me and asked me to lick it, as if I was one of their dogs. I was pondering why a) she hadn't turned me in and b) why she thought I was one of their dogs, but alas, I never found out the answer, as the alarm then went off....
</dream>
[1] In fact, the RL reason that I had them on my mind and hence in my dreams is because yesterday a large branch from their tree broke off and fell onto the property fence, and damaged our sandbox, and pulled out our phone lines. I didn't care about either one, as a) our sandbox hadn't been really a sandbox in decades, and was in crappy condition anyhow and b) we haven't had phone service via copper landline in years, either. However, they did come right away when I told them about it (they only moved about 15-20 minute drive away) and removed it from the wires. We've never had good relations with these neighbors, ranging from occasional casualness to outright hostility with frostiness being the usual norm, so I was pleasantly surprised).

[2] They don't have electricity, as a I found out from a comment the dad made that they would have to come back today with a gas chainsaw, as they don't have the electricity turned on any more.

I was preforming in a musical and had to sing. (I sing really, really badly) The musical was environmentally themed - save the planet - and it starred a frog! I was sweating about it and really nervous, but I woke before I got to go on stage. :oops:
Reveal to me the mysteries
Can you tell me what it means?
Explain these motions and metaphors
Unlock these secrets in me
Describe the vision, the meaning is missing
Won't anybody listen?

I'm not the only one! Hooray!

I can sing in tune, perfectly fine; it just sounds terrible, especially in the very low end of my range. The higher stuff I can fake with falsetto, but that's not good singing, is it? :P

…I don't have a dream to post here yet.

Just before I woke up, I had a dream where I was approaching a dog, and I knew I had known the dog long ago but the dog didn't seem to remember me and it was backing off or baring its teeth if I approached too fast, so I had to move very carefully and back away when ever it got scared, and when I finally got close enough to pet it, I noticed that it had white spots covering its pupils. It was blind, that's why it couldn't recognize me.

I dreamed that I got a drop of liquid oxygen on my index finger and it froze. When it thawed, it blistered and started turning black. The entire time I this was happening, I was wandering around some university buildings looking for something, which I couldn't find because I kept winding up in the wrong places.

Sounds a lot like my dreams. I'm always hedaing somewhere (most often with friends from different eras of my life), but the surroundings change almost every time we go through a door, leave a car or whatever. I have one dream from maybe a month ago, it was so weird, and I remember it all. I usually don't remember much from my dreams. But this one is enough to make a very dark David Lynch-like movie from. ;)

Years ago, I had this dream where some scientists were trying to stop the end of the world. They were doing a pretty bad job, since they were on a sort of gray, featureless plane. The horizon had a definite distinction, but everything was gray. I think the sky might've been full of roiling storm clouds. Whatever doom the scientists were trying to stave off caught up to them and suddenly the gray plane got sort of chaotic with these beautiful, violent purple, pink, and gray clouds with lightning and thunder. The scientists were all turned into paper dolls and strung up on some sort of horizontal rod (not by any sort of entity, it just happened) that was pointed at a random portal in the middle of the chaos. One by one, the paper dolls got sucked through the portal and into the next dream I had that night, and so on three or four times. I don't remember the other dreams, but they were all connected by the paper doll scientists being sucked through a portal to the next dream when that one was over.

I also once had a huge, complex dream involving my dorm and telekinetic clowns training for a competition, but we (I was one of them) had to hide that we were telekinetic clowns, except my grandpa couldn't make his nose disappear and almost ruined everything forever. There's a lot more to it than that, but that was the basic premise. Then, bizarrely, me and two of my friends were dancing with cast members from That's So Raven at a fountain in front of an audience and that was the end of the dream.

BTW, have any of you had a recurring dream night after night?
When I was young (around 10-12 I guess) I had these dreams with a crazy midget woman who came into the house and asked for a beer (using the word "ser", an unusual variant of the standard Hungarian "sör") then stabbed me in the stomach with a knife. Her eyes were red from crying and these dreams always began with me discovering that I had failed to close the door again and she's coming.
It happened night after night. It was like in those Freddy Krueger movies: I was afraid of falling asleep.

It was originally a band thing. I'd gotten to the school early before a game or something, and was kind of snooping in on the council gathering. I was eventually kicked out, so I waited five minutes until they came out, and then we all went to a store similar to Sam's Club or BJ's or even Home Depot for some reason, and it was overcast and dreary and rainy outside. Several kids got giant shopping carts off of a high shelf. But then I notice Shayna's gotten a much thinner one in width. I asked why, and she said it was because she loved racing it down the aisle, and would I like to join her? Of course I said yes, so we both climb into the cart, me in front, and raced down the aisle behind the cashiers a few times, before we were told to stop because we'd run into too many things. So we sat around and waited a few minutes, and Wright announced that we had to go. I took my phone out and started to call my mom like everyone else when I realised I could text her, and while I was doing that, I noticed another band kid, CC, on her phone. I asked what she was doing, and she says her boyfriend is taking some kids to a theme park and would I like to come. Several minutes later, I'm in a loaded SUV (my mom was driving) driving towards what I recognise now as Maitland from Maitland Boulevard. As the hour-long trip continues, the dream transitions.

We're at the theme park in midday, the sky is perfectly clear, and it's as if we'd been there awhile, split up into groups, and already ridden some rides. We're walking around and I notice the Muppet-like theme amongst the African dinosaurs (I thought we were at the African Busch Gardens in Williamsburg) as well as randdom people in costumes that looked like crosses between the Sesame Street characters Bert and that indigo guy whose name I can't remember (not Cookie Monster). I'm looking for an adrenaline junkie roller coaster, and I come out to the end of this pier-like thing overlooking a highway, with a track winding around it. It was a roller coaster. Another band geek I know was with me, and he told me about the ride, which was called the "Taylor Clark". Basically as well as a physical adrenline rush, there was an intellectual aspect to it too—you had to figure out this code after scaling the whole coaster collecting clues, and so far nobody had done it. As he was describing it to me, it was as if I was actually experiencing it and I could feel Zero G and see what was going on. So I was like, I'm in! And so we go back to a building with restrooms nearby to find my mom and her less-adrenaline-junkie party and tell her what I'm doing. My two best friends kind of tag along, as well as several other band kids, including a guy named Corey (important). We find the building to get in line for the ride to find it's down for a few minutes, but there was such a huge crowd that there were officers redirecting lines. The kids were all separated by experience level with the ride and the level of adrenaline they were willing to deal with. I was with the largest group initially, which slowly dispersed as we went through sliding door after sliding door (similar to that in grocery stores) in a business-like looking building. Finally after some fifteen doors, we go through the last door (by that point there were only five of us left) and find ourselves near the side of the turnpike late at night, a huge change since just before it'd clearly been midday. We were told we had to find our way onto the roller coaster ourselves, as part of the intellectual side. It was somewhere above and north of us, so when we were dismissed we started climbing the telephone poles with remarkable strength and agility. Corey is making speed down the side of the road against the flow of traffic. Then somebody yells about Corey getting it right, and how I was "only doing it for the, well, you know." I got that they meant sex, but I was confused—why would I want sex? Then I realised—as I quickly looked over myself (I was at the top of a telephone pole holding on with my legs, my back to the pole)—that I was my Fu Island character, the one with the fiancée, whom I hadn't been before. I contemplated this for a split second, and then I woke up.
