I know the pressure around this kind of thing. If I failed the exam I sat before Christmas, I get sacked. Yay...gejyspa wrote:My son passed Organic Chemistry! He was very worried about that class, since he might have lost his scholarship.

In 43 minutes it will be my 20th phoniversary (I spoke with my wife-to-be on the phone for 18 days before we ever met face to face). Back then, communication was a lot different....text messaging didn't exist, the worldwide web was only an experiment on a single computer, Mark Zuckerberg was only 6 years old, and twitter was something only birds did. (cell phones existed, but only about one in 500 people had one, and they were clunky things). <3 <3 <3

^ Congratulations! Just went all "awww" at that.
And congrats on your son passing Organic Chemistry, too!
Congrats to Mr Black as well...

Me, a cop... Still laughing as I type. Nope, I meant a witness statement in relation to one of my cases (Hmm, still sounds cop-like). Not a cop, gosh, no! I'm in the legal profession. Not sure if that's any better.
SumBum, thanks! Feeling much better today, but still got the cough & hate dictating. I feel your friend's pain!
This week, although it was short, just about drained me. Yay for the weekend!

Baby's are awesome. I have a 1-year old baby brother. If a baby runs up to you and raises his arms, is it possible to resist?
Also, my college semester started today.

I feel fat. Not like "OMG I'M SO FAT I'M GONNA DIE" but like, after Christmas dinner, and you're warm, and you've eaten just a teeny bit more than your stomach can hold, but it's okay 'cause it kinda feels good? And it's all warm and it's making you sleepy?
That's how I'm feeling right now.
Fat and happy.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
One side of my neck is stiff today, I think it already was in the morning but it has gotten worse from sitting here. Also my legs are hurting a bit because I had the first day of school after Christmas/New Year's vacation so my muscles had gotten used to slacking off. Not like I did much at school, there didn't seem to be enough work for everybody. Set some tables, did some dishes, wiped some drawers and dirty spots that no one ever wipes. We had a pizza day but the third year students baked all the pizzas. They burned most of them because the oven is hotter than what the number says. They were still edible but not very good. Also I had to get my bus card reprogrammed because due to some stupid change, they couldn't be reloaded in buses before getting reprogrammed. So there were four people ahead of me in the queue and about the same in the other queue. The clerk was all chatty with the guy ahead of me but with me she was all businesslike and not particularly friendly. I dunno, maybe they knew each other in advance.

Finally moved!
I'm on my new place. Still lots of boxes around, loads of work to do, but I'm here.
Making this place my own home.
Oh! And last night I had to kill a bee with my deodorant, because I couldn't find the insecticide. It fell to the ground and died but... wasn't it a scented death?

I do this all the time. I have this horrid fear that bugs are going to crawl into my ears (or other places, but mostly my ears) and do awful things, so every time I see a bug, I grab the nearest aerosol thing and spray and spray and spray. A lot of bugs are surprisingly chemical resistant. Especially to hairspray. It doesn't even make them drown.
Congrats on the move, Indigo.
And Seko, watch funny videos of cats. That always takes the edge off for me. ^.^,

But then it squishes, which is ucky, and they can leave eggs that hatch later, and they try to run, which makes it worse. And don't even get me started on that crunch some of them have, which is why I don't eat vegetables.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
I wouldn't try to directly hit an insect with something, other than a fly, though even then throwing a wet paper towel would be better in some cases. Usually what I do to kill bugs (mostly spiders) is surround it with paper towel/toilet paper, pick it up that way and then crush it to death, nice and clean.
If it's a huge spider or an inside spider web, I'll probably throw a wet paper towel at it first.

All-purpose cleaning fluid works well with crawling insects. However, with a flying insect, I use a pair of catalogs/magazines to slap together. In my previous apartment, I would have the occasional bee come through the vent, and it would very angry at being slammed around by the air flow that it would fly recklessly and bump into everything with a menacing buzz.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
It really depends on my mood but I will catch spiders and put them outside, especially if they are large. Anything else (non-flying) gets picked up with a tissue and thrown in the toilet or smacked with the fly swatter. I HATE HATE HATE mosquitoes. Most "bugs" don't bother me except that I don't want them in my house.
We have some cockroaches at work that are so big no one will attempt to squash them. In fact, every time someone went into the printer room yesterday you'd hear "Damn that's big!!" or similar.
