It's not a real language.

It's just english with different words substituted. No different grammar, anything. It's like a code, not a language. Quenya, though. THAT you can sink your teeth into :D

And Quenya is no different -.-.... We discussed this before Quenya was just based off of another languages grammar and such. Tolkien didn't invent a new one ;).

*Sigh* Oh how much I hope that Drowish would have a different structure than English.... =P Strange thing that although there are actually grammatical instructions, most verbs seem to be irregular and nouns may have half a dozen different plural endings!!

Alot of Tolkien's languages involved certain amounts of Latin, if I remember correctly.

Nobody can make up a language that bears NO resemblance to any other living one; Tolkien at least created an etymology, a DISTINCT grammar, and a cohesive history. Drow is just a find-and-replace job. Tolkien was a linguist; Salvatore is a hack.

Hey, this is supposed to be the conversation IN Drow, not the constructed languages argument...

Unless you argue in Drow, that is.

*parachutes into Drow territory, sends sitrep back via comsat, requisities loudspeaker, recovers it after it comes in, minutes later with loudspeaker in mouth from a hidden location, using impeccable untraceable sound bouncing and completely concealed camouflage*

Drow is evil! Drow is evil! Drow is evil! Speak English! Speak English! Speak English. Drow will send you to hell!

*tramples away under Drow area shrubs, to Drow comthread server tower, sets some C-4 set and lets it blast after making exfil*

Muahahahah.

The link to the Drow Translator? I won't sabotage that. ;) Well unless Le resistance gets in me.

There are several but I use this one since it sustains capital letters and punctuation marks. Bad thing though is that it doesn't take wildcards so if some word is misspelled you have to guess it by context.

There's one thing why we shouldn't use Drow:
"Drow, or llythiiri, is a rough-sounding corruption of the Elven langauge, Eldar. It is spoken only by the Drow, who keep it's grammar and writing hidden from non-Drow, and rarely speak it in the presence of others."
Source: http://www.furc.steelangel.com/combat/languages.html

There are no drows in Cantr, just humans, so it would be a sacriledge to create a society of humans that talk drowish.
