Search Yahoo groups for 'Cantr' - it's actually quite easy to find if you know where to look - alongside some even older cantr groups.
Although, I'm surprised the maps are still there - I heard about this on the forums, ages ago, and assumed it had been taken down...

Ok here's my rant I wrote before I realized people had already calmed down. But I'm gonna post it anyway. You don't have to read it.
There is no conspiracy and unless Phalynx can give us the names and evidence of who exactly are cheating, then he should shut up. You might think that there is no evidence if people operate on messengers behind the scenes, but there is too.
- If something happens ingame that requires coordination between two or more characters, and these characters haven't been whispering to each other or sending notes prior to the action taking place, then there's your proof of such plans being made OOC. (A problem is that such discussion may have happened in the previous location or behind closed doors, but still ingame. For checking things like this, we need PD.)
- If a character makes choices based on news out of town when no messenger or radio message has arrived, then there's cheating involved.
And concerning new players getting checked by the PD more easily than old people is that it's more likely that a new player doesn't know the rules, than an old player not knowing them.
Ditto. I realized this already after the previous time but there are so many people who don't know. You know Phalynx, there are people who get emotionally bound to their characters and feel sad as they do. You're not only making characters suffer, but players too.
And as for the maps group, the last message was Posted - Sun Mar 27, 2005 7:31 pm. What a booming community alright.

SekoETC wrote::!: I googled for "cantr map" and couldn't find a single one, so I think we're pretty much safe from them. I remember the link to the Yahoo group being posted here on the forums some time back as an example, but it seemed like an idea born dead. Agar's photobucket gallery is apparently private and one can't see the picture(s) without given a direct link, so there's far less of a chance of someone running into the map there than if it's blatantly posted on the forums.
You are SO missing the point!..
The point being if new player A wants a look at cantr geography and where things are he is told to wait to he goes somewhere with Treefeather or not to discuss it OOC. He can google like you did and find nothing!
If old player Y wants to look at cantr geography OOC, he can got to that yahoo group or the photobucket, apparently common knowledge amongst older players, or he can PM somoeone, or have a private conversation in IRC or use Y messenger, ask their friends..
This applies just as much to all other forms of information about cantr. Even the Wiki has areas of info that only some people can access!
It's the double standard that sickens me...
Anyway I'm done with the discussion. Marian and Seko seem particularly pissed off with me, so they should be glad I am out of the game...

I agree this is double standards when it does occur and that is why the management treat such activity as cheating - It is dificult to detect and hard to stop but we do take action when we find this .
WIth the exception of some software administration pages - all the infomation in the Wiki is available to all - The pages not available have nothing to do with the game, just the wiki s/w and are accessable to sysops only - which currently is Jos and myself

Easy for you to say, Seko, but I think you're equating length of time played with honesty. If that were the case, Nick wouldn't have been banned, Meh wouldn't have left, etc etc.
Some old-timers cheat. Just because you've played for however long doesn't mean you aren't a manipulative, cheating, lying...lieface! And for some people, there's nothing to STOP them from cheating even if they don't. See my story about "Jim" earlier.

It sure is good that we are handing out directions to the younger players who were not in the know before. That sure will go a long way towards improving the state of the CRB.

Just trying to point out that there is a side effect of opening up the PD reports that hasn't been touched upon here. Cheaters aren't always clever. Some of them don't need free tips on some of the more difficult ways to cheat. It adds work to PD and really doesn't accomplish much other than to appease the crowd.
Not a major problem, you are right, but there is something there, I think.
Now...back to my great mud wrestling idea.... That is going to save the game, I tell you!

Is there really such a need for so much heat on this?
People cheat...
New players cheat
Old players cheat
Sometimes staff members cheat
In all cases, if they are spotted, they're dealt with.
Those maps on yahoo are a joke - all easily available in-game, and out of date anyway. Any older players who knew about it would never have needed to refer to it. Any newer players seeing it, will have already seen them in-game if they have been near a copy of Hobbes', and I'd put good money on Hobbes' being the most carried note ever.
If there truly was a conspiracy, we'd all know by now. Talk gets around, especially quickly in a small community like ours, and all staff members talk with other players, at least to some extent.
