I'm sorry to say this, but I hate the general teenage youth of America. No drive, no lust for knowledge or difference. We're stagnating, and as much as I love the internet it's part of the issue. It just makes me sad. I mean, look at their media. Hannah Montana. Jonas Brothers. Twilight. It's revolting, and it's all Twinkies.

American born, American raised and I DO love my country but I've to agree with a good CHUNK of the world on some issues which involve my loved country.

Each of "those types" have their goods and bads but I honestly think its some type of ploy to make the younger generations easier to manipulate with mindless dribble.

It is a RULE in my home, and always has been, that the news, popular media and anything that is typically claimed "normal" is frowned on and further more discouraged. Sibling has rebelled and joined the ranks of the stupid. We do not like sheep in this household and I plan on similar behaviors for children of my own if the situation presents itself.

Short: QoB is correct but I don't read much or watch much anymore anyway.

The new generations have always been seen as inferior to their previous. Now if that is true, well, the question still doesn't have a right answer.

Still, I think this has none to do with Twilight, Hannah Montana and all this Disney-sponsored teen merchandise factories. It would be more linked to the fact that the general teenager is an annoying and dumb being who in hordes is likely to talk loud, spread dirt and trash around all the place and drive locals into ultimate rage. :)

Thought: I was reading all of this, and when Joo said about the accent, I started to think myself of what accent I have. I really really don't know, and it sounds rather mixed.

I find that I tend to switch between a Southern, British, and Plain accent as I talk. I can't help but reflect that in my characters, as some of you know. :D Dunno why really, though my mum was from California, hence the 'Plain' accent, I grew up in South Carolina, hence the Southern accent, and I don't really know about the British one. Certainly don't have any family from there.

dont hate hannah montana, once she gets away from disney she'll probably have a very succesful career as a country music singer. until then, though, shes damned to be a mediocre pop singer with a not-quite-right voice for what she has to do.

she's got talent, but she is a pretty damn shitty actress.

i was gonna say something else but i forgot, so im off to bed. ciao

As I read it now I am almost perfectly the opposite of common America youth. :S

I do not know who Hannah Montana, the Jonas Brothers and Twilight are. (Although I guess Twilight is some sort of a movie?)
I like spending time reading up on wikipedia, and I am almost always unable to talk about trivial things, which seems to be the only thing interesting them.
I hate watching sports and doing most of them.

Since I feel I have to defend myself, here goes. (this refers to a comment I made in the Post your desktop thread, followed by some unrelated generalizations, also this is addressed to several statements in no particular order - if you feel annoyed by what I say, I'll happily make things a bit clearer, or maybe confirm your annoyance)

All I said was I find it a bit weird and am I the only one? I think *I* am the one that got words out in their (IE MY) mouth. I never said people who put pictures of their kids online are terrible parents. I never said they should be put away and should not be allowed to take care of their child. All I meant was it's not fair to just post (="publish") pictures of someone who cannot refuse. And no, it's not like walking on the street. And it's not like showing your kids off to your friends. And who says you know everyone who plays cantr all that well? And who says only people who play cantr read this forum? And who says it's not some loony fucker reading here, nothing to do at all with cantr and nothing to do all day but surfing the web? Maybe someone who knows a bit more about computers and the internet and finding out where people live, and also put together bits and pieces of other stuff that people write online (this is highly exaggerated and paranoid, but nonetheless it's not impossible and that is exactly my point).

Also, I'd be royally pissed off if I knew my parents would show pictures of me to people I don't know. Or people I do know and maybe don't like. Whom I don't want to know what I looked like as a child. And other people feel like that. Not everyone is a friend of the glorious internet. I am, but some of the possibilities really freak me out, to be perfectly honest. And no, I am not the only one.

And no, I don't know you. When I say people like you, I mean people who say "it's their call". That's how kids get beatings everyday. That's how kids starve to death. There are irresponsible parents out there, and just because it's "their" child, doesn't mean they can do whatever they want with it.
And you don't know me. So don't assume you know my logic, or what I'm thinking, if all I do is comment.

I probably forgot some stuff. But there. Pick whatever offends you.

PS. Do not make assumptions about people just by what you see of them online. (Or even in real life; I personally can't picture my sister, who's trying for a baby atm, being a good mom. But I might be wrong. Also, I think I might make a quite acceptable mom. Again, I might be wrong.) It's really just bits and pieces. I'm not sure whether I was one of the people you think should not "breed", but either way it's very disrespectful and hurtful.

Well, as Joo said, it is highly unlikely someone will end up getting raped because of a picture on the internet. It's much more likely that'll happen on the street. People are pretty stupid to track down kids on the internet when they might as well just snatch one away from those candy stores. So no, ain't gonna happen.

Not necessarily. They might find it more interesting. Or more challenging. I don't say there are many of them, or many that succeed, but there are very very sick people out there. What you think might be easier, might be just boring for them. Be careful about judging people.

Normally I am the one very paranoid.

But now I think that is quite a bit paranoid. You might just as well be living very far away.

And it is just a picture, the picture does not give any further information.

I absolutely fail to see talent in this whore other than destroying today's youth. Her music--sucks, I'd be surprised if she had the brains to write it, and if she did, than a minus not a plus. I mean, I've seen the commercials for her CD's--'The Ice Cream Freeze'? And that bizarre, sort of square dance that goes with it. *shudders* She's despicable, and stupid, just doin what Daddy tells her. Puppets, the lot.

Everyone ignores me -.-

THE AVERAGE TEENAGE AMERICAN DOES NOT WATCH DISNEY. Maybe as a tweenager or whatever the hell they're calling it now. (Pre-teen) Almost every person my age whom is 13 or over that's not considered wierd for watching Disney. Twilight is an exception, I personally hate it though.

No, you're right. The average American Teen older set watches Fuse and goes to Hot Topic to prove to everyone else how different they are, just like all their friends. Or they put on whatever ridiculously-named bit of 'retro' faux-sportswear they're into that day and go to their rancid smelling shops with pictures of half-naked gay men everywhere. I know this. I have teenage friends.
And yes, technically I am a teenager, but the last time I set foot in a mall was with my teenage friends, and it was so horrendously boring! I'd much rather sit down with a good book, a good drink, on a comfy bed, with some nice weed (on occasion) and some good ass (as much as possible).
Near as I can tell, teenagers nowadays are all about doing their best to avoid their mind, not stimulate it, stay on enough drugs where it won't work. It's just so tedious, honest, I don't know how they do it. I mean, ignorance may be bliss, but these days it's damn hard to be stupid.[/i]
