Why do people assume that just because we have sentience we have some kind of destiny or purpose...someone who lives life sitting on their arse watching TV has done no worse, as a lifeform, than someone who campaigns to lessen the suffering of others in the grand scheme of things...they'll both die and most likely both be forgotten, except in some very rare circumstances.

Personally I don't feel obliged to help out in terms of "charity" at all, there's too many people on this planet as it is, if a few more die its probably for the better for the planet (I personally don't believe life is sacred, scarcity is the decider of value and we're very fucking abundant!) I also don't understand the big "bawww" over death, sure its not nice that we can't all live happily ever after together, but we HAVE to die. Sometimes I think if people had it their way noone would ever die and we'd just fill this planet up to bursting point.

Wiro, your mother is older than both my biological mother, and my stepmother.

Actually doctors understand the value of good death, there was an article that had doctors writing how they would like to be treated if they became unable to take care of themselves. There was stuff like "my food can be spicy, and I'd like some wine and cognac every once in a while, I'd like to go outside even if you had to roll me there in a hospital bed, and when the pain starts, don't spare the morphine". For some people the length of life is more important than the quality of it, although usually it's the next of kin who feel like they can't let go, when the patient would've been ready to die long ago. If you believe in an afterlife, it should be easier to die or to allow a relative to die.

That would be all great if I didn't think 30 was old when I was younger. With my mom being not much older then me, I remember thinking I don't want to turn 30 because then I am old and I have already passed that.. *shivers*

Lol. I always used to think that anything going into double digits was too old. Then, I do believe, I was thirteen when I had my mid-life crisis *nods* So, I have 5 good years left in me before X.x lol
