im halfway through a new series, the wheel of time by jordan roberton, quite good even if there is 10 books,

That'd be Robert Jordan.

Siddharta. (Manfred summing... Mann?).

Aand that'd be Herman Hesse.

I read about everything, although I enjoy general fiction a lot. "The Secret Life of Bees" has proven to be a great book--I urge all fiction enjoyers to read it. I also have been reading "Portrait of a Killer" by Patricia Cornwell--it's about Jack the Ripper. Very interesting book. "The Giver" is also an amazing book--filled with just about anything you'd look for. :)

I'm just starting one of the DoUrden series. The Thousand Orcs, the book is called. What's everyone think of that one?

Whatever happened to Tanith Lee? She was a big name back in the days that I read fantasy... and not mentioned once among you fantasy fans? Nowadays I mostly read non-fiction on history and politics; currently I'm reading Churchill's WW2 memoires.

Well your starting at the wrong end of the series, considering your reading his most recent book, but whatever, it's a pretty good book.

I read everything, mainly Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams for fiction though, loads of non-fiction stuff on everything from aleins to machines to weapons to history to science.

I'd have to agree that "The Giver" is an amazing book. One of my all time favorites next to Dragonlance books of course.

I didn't read the above thread, but ... how can I answer that question? :) ... There is much more than sci-fi, action, and fantasy, and they're not at all mutually exclusive :) ...

Siddharta is by Herman Hesse ;) ... Quite a good book, indeed.

Are you serious? A lot of people said it was the first book of that certain series. Don't blow up at me, I don't even know what book goes where.

Don't worry I am not blowing up at you jsut telling you :), sorry if I did sound like I was blowing up :), I was saying that it's his most recent trilogy in his series of books, technically the first series he wrote was the Icewind Dale Trilogy, but the first one oin the whole series of books is The Legend of the Drow Trilogy, just check the back of "The Thousand Orcs" for his books. And yes "The Thousand Orcs" is his first book in the Hunter's Blade Trilogy.

I thought the first one is the "Dark Elf" trilogy. Is this "Legend of the Drow" a newer series in the Do'Urden saga?

No problem, man.
So, there is several different series, but does it matter which series you read first? If not, I can still switch books. By saying, "I've started reading one" I meant I'm done with the first page of the prelude.

Yes that was it, I couldn't remember the name of it so I said the Legend of the Drow, the newer one is "The Legacy of the drow" series though, but yes like Richard said Mavsfan it's the "Dark Elf Trilogy" that you need to read first :).
