Maybe I had better send her flowers, just in case.

The Stand is by far his best book ever...So I love the guy met him a few times at book signing and once just up in Bangor where my sister lives. That was interesting.

I wish the used the better version of the book for the movie. They used the first copy that was missing 300 pages or so...Like come on the Rocky mountain part was so...Well it would have added something lol.

For any of you who watch the fx series "Sons of Anarchy", he does a guest spot in a recent episode and plays a pretty creepy guy who specializes in 'disposal' of dead bodies. He captures the creepy stereotype that some of us may have of Mortician/Undertaker types pretty well.

If you hated him, as in the thread title; this will probably reinforce that...

Be well

I'd like, but I couldn't, the book was not mine...

I loved his character there. He completely nailed that (and pardon me if I botch the quote) "What happened to her?" *sharp turn of the head* "What happened to... whom?" bit.

I read Gerald's Game in High School and thought it was good (very, very dirty)....but now that I am posting this I can't recall if it was Stephen King or Dean Koontz....Hmm... *goes to google* Oh yeah, it was Stephen King. I can't remember if the ending sucked, but I remember it being a good read back then. Of course, that was when dinosaurs still roamed the earth and I had to read it on stone tablets....but hey....I don't think my memory is that bad. I love reading, but have avoided Stephen King because I am deathly afraid of clowns and made the mistake as a kid trying to read IT...all I remember was "It will find you" and I was done...

That book, in my opinion, ended in the best way possible. One word: Redemption. And yes, how could he do that to X and Y??? Although I re-read every book in the series about at least 10 times, I always cry my heart out at those parts. That's how much he sucks me in into the story. Surprises me every time. :?
I am a big King fan, so I won't really be able to contribute to the hate thread much, but one thing that bugs me is how bad most of the films of his books are. His fault? I am not sure, but if you have seen The Mist, The Dreamcatcher (wth?) etc, you will know what I mean (Carrie, The Shining, The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile are the exceptions, I suppose).
By the way, my dentist's surname is Kingdom, and it always freaks me out to see him because a) I don't like seeing the dentist (but go regularly), b) His surname reminds me of Kingdom Hospital.

Redemption? That was the last word I was thinking of when I finished The Dark Tower series - I was thinking of the word "futility."

It's the journey/hope/search for redemption I am talking about. I cannot go into any further details without spoiling it for the people who have not read it.
One more thing, and I hope this is vague enough, I can't think of a single thing that could have been placed "up there" that would make me go "ahh... so that was it!", on the contrary, it would disappoint me, I'm sure. And the story continues...
Okay, back on topic, I hate that his hardback books are sooooo expensive (Yeah, I know, that's the worst thing I could come up with :P ).
