As per investigative procedure for anomalous terrestrial occurrences, I sent staff to the Botanical Dome to study the characteristics and composition, and to assess the risks of what you know as "Subject X". We have reclassified it as a Biophotochronic-centriol (BPCC). Initial findings are as follows:

1. At temperatures between 15C and 42C, the macroscopically charged quantization of the BPCC interact with large protein molecules in plant matter, which is observed to assist in the growth, as well as increase the ambient nutritional content of edible plants.

2. The BPCC possess structures of arrayed microtubule linked proteins (MLPs), which were observed to match the Compton schematic of DNA/RNA synaptic vesicles. The result is a hyperphoto-neurofibrillary quantum network, allowing the dynamical coherence with the physiological axions in the human brain. In other words, the crystals respond to human thought.

CONCLUSIONS:
My decision to destroy the initial sample of BPCC in our lab was a mistake made in haste, as the human-crystal interaction thus observed by my staff and reported by personnel of the Botanical Dome shows all indications that the BPCC is harmless. Furthermore, the potential for application to agriculture is immense, and would be a great boon to the viability of this colony.

Wallace has been removed of command as of the start of this letter, Lilly has been detained and taken to a local holding facility as a traitor and possibly terrorist group leader. Anyone with information on any of the events should send their concerns to the trash bin.

Botanical Dome scheduled for destruction in two days. You are not permitted to claim any personal artifacts from the site due to contamination. You will be soon taken to a sterile environment and scanned for possible BPCC (Subject X) cross contamination of neural pathways.

I'm sorry I've been out so late, but there's something going on at the Dome. We've apparently lost our jobs and are being taken somewhere to be tested. I'm not sure how long it will take. If I'm not home by midnight, put out a notice I've gone missing. I don't like what's going around here.

The new boss said Lilly was taken somewhere, they think she's a terrorist! Imagine that! It's all over these crystals we had. There's a tiny bag in this envelope containing some I managed to grab without being seen; they were on a file I was looking at. Please hide the bag somewhere, anywhere. I'll explain more as soon as I can.

Due to an error that was made in the regards as to whom did or did not have any ties to the crystal formations your mother, Carla Montgomery, has been a tormentingly killed. She claimed no knowledge of crystals of any sort even after a letter you sent was found on her property. You, and the rest of the Botanical Dome Personnel are hence forth being noted as traitors. There is also news that Wallace has helped in assisting with the escape of Lily, both are to be put to death.

This letter has been sent because you are a minor and as of now have no living family, do not think your treatment is less because you did no wrong. We hope to be able to re-educate you with a more proper form of thinking.

You shall be picked up and taken to a facility for your safety, arguments will be met with force.

Your workings with the underground group which will hence forth being called "Under Grew" has been found. Lily and yourself are to be put do death as well as the rest of the Botanical Dome Personnel.

Your government will not be intimidated by your threats, or theirs. To further make this point we have sent troops to each members home to have them dealt with in the aforementioned manner.

The lawyer you hired to claim your innocence has been killed to prevent further contamination of BPCC, as will anyone else who is given any information about or comes in contact with BPCC.

I had hoped we could work this out and not resort to violence but that doesn't seem to be the case. You and your "crew" are stubborn and must now be put down like dogs.

It's so good to be working in the Botanical Dome after last week's unfortunate events. I'm amazed at how quickly the Intergalactic Federation of Solar Systems for Space Peace came down on the "Secretary's" little military coup. Ah well, he and the Commander and their minions are all safely held inside Super Invincible Unescapable Forcefield cells on the Prison Planet of Grawkwath. I wonder if he'll be writing any letters of apology. Their actions were completely without legal precedent, and unconstitutional. Now the crystals are helping our whole colony to rebuild. Yay.

I'd say this was a really good practice run. I hadn't intended at all to start a game with the introduction of Wally, Ahkbar, and the crystals. But it's neat to see what can arise.

I think we should be a little more considerate of the shared setting (i.e., the Botanical Dome), as well as NPCs, (e.g., the lawyer, and maybe the crystals).

Now I think I see why Lovecraft was used as the style for De Profundis. In that kind of psychological/horror genre, each character can be their own worst enemy, and often goes insane in the end. In that way, each player directs the plot of their character's struggle within themselves and some sort of mystery in the setting, or conflict with shared NPCs. PC to PC conflict should probably be avoided, lest the game result in notes like the killing of Carla or my last one from Wallace. :p

According to the rules that I had read anything that one player claim may be either stated true OR FALSE by another player. The choice to "play along" with a dead character was not my doing.

Easy enough... I could simply write a letter from the Commander to WHOEVER saying that Wallace was spreading more lies etc.

Same with the others... you didn't read your own rules. *sad face* But I only did that to prove a point... this type of play only works with like minded individuals.
