It doesn't matter what you can afford. You'll love it. And the next two years are going to be great. Where are you from that thats the tradition? Where I'm from that would be very, very old fashioned.

When I proposed to my wife she had me ask her father (which is no longer a traditional English custom ) I think he looked more scared than me :)
