And how do we know that Americans didn't come up with football first before soccor. And I think soccor was the original name for the sport and since America was cut off culturally from Europe for a while, we never changed it to football when the Europeans did. Latin America also refers to it as soccor instead of football. So I think it is a cultural thing with the Western Hemisphere excluding Canada because they have always have had contact with Europe after American Independence and they refer to it as football instead of soccor. And why should Americans change the name of the sport. It's not like Europeans actually watch our football. So I don't see where the confusion lies.

Well, brazilians don't. They call it "futeball". I dont know about the latin americans, but i doubt it. Still, soccer is wrong. :wink:

Well, I maybe wrong in the states but I am right in europe. Since Europe has the highest number of inhabitants, I am more right. Abt. 20 million ppl more right I believe.

Not sure who has more people but considering one state is bigger than all of Europe I would say that doesn't sound right even though that state is one of the most sparsely populated lands in the world (Alaska!).

And one nuke will take care of that if there are more and then we would be right.

But you could be right but I don't feel like looking it up.

hmmm....Maybe but I don't trust the CIA to get anything right so perhaps the European Union site though they aren't much better either.

ummm.... alaska's definitely not bigger by population, which is all that matters when your talking about a cultural thing. i think more people in the world probably call it football or the equivalent than soccer.

anyway, i think soccer is wrong. i'm such a traitor. i'm gonna get arrested now....
