Jedi Mind Tricks are good.
Damn good.
Underground hip hop group from Philidelphia who are, for some strange twist of fate in my favor, coming to Halifax.
And these guys actually have a message. Not, skeet skeet skeet, or I got shot nine times.

I like a bit of everything now, but less band bands really.
Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Nightmares on Wax, most music Warp Records sign. Cassette boy - not music in the usual sense, but check 'em out
Jurassic 5 - They don't go on about getting shot either, so they're cool
Dilated Peoples.
Prodigy.
Chikinki.
Blur.
Ladytron.
Freezepop.
A few mainstream songs here and there..
Generally, these days, anyone that calls themselves The somethings are crap... I think anyway

3 Doors Down - They do this awesome song along with Bob Seger, man I love it.
Everclear and Everlast both.
Death From Above 1979
Rasputina
Vertical Horizon
Billy Currington *Sigh*
Eve 6
Coldplay
Mudvayne
And I double love, love, Sarah McLachlan. She never gets old to me for some reason.
Howie Day
Edit
I been on a Mick Jagger kick.
A band I'd be interested in hearing more of is Dropkick Murphys. I only have one of their songs but it's getting overplayed in my house.

Some of my favorite jazz:
the "Hot Five" and the "Hot Seven"
Dave Brubeck
Miles Davis
Freddie Hubbard
Wynton Marsalis
As for more modern music (that hasn't been mentioned):
Audioslave
Radiohead
311
Death Cab For Cutie
Edited for spelling

H-F there is plenty of places where you can talk about solo artists, this is about bands, and there are enough of them for it to be worth talking about...
It has been sooooo long since I listened to Bush, loved Glycerine by them though... good band

Just because you're older, smarter, stronger, more talented... doesn't mean you're BETTER.
