Ah the memories of undergrad! I can vaguely remember these tests of which you speak. I haven't had to worry about them for a year now since I passed my preliminary examination for PhD candidacy. Now all I have to do is research. Ha Ha! Suckers!

*pauses as he realizes he now has to show up on campus all day, everday, all year long, sitting in front of the computer in the basement office (officially a storage closet), broken AC and cockroaches the size of a small dog*

SON OF A .... I got the shaft!

*snickers* Yeah, my friend who's going to John Hopkins for grad school next year showed me that comic. Ah... research, lovely lovely research.

bah... I hate university
It just dawned on me today, as I started to think about the blissfull time I'd have over summer break. That I have my dissertation *ominous string chords* That means, on top of earning some cash in a crappy office job, I've gotta go do some research with scummy teenagers off my council estate... Pah...

just had a German Oral this morning.

I got up at 6 to prepare for it because I hadn't done anything for it that far (because I'm still 2 weeks late on 2 coursework deadlines *gulp*) so I don't think the results are going to be that great.

Last week of may, 3 hours of maths, and 1h 30 mins of general studies back to back, the next day 2h 30mins of german exams. then a week later 90 mins of communication studies.

I'm looking forward to after the exams. Anyone planning on going Download festival this year?

I remember my friends who had to general studies - I managed to skip it 'cos it clashed with my A-Level art - but, from what I gathered it's the most arse crushingly boring thing on the planet

i've been to 5 lessons the whole year, so I wouldn't know

The questions are stupid anyway: they can be on anything, plus few universities take it seriously (because it isn't a serious subject) My friends had questions on Scrapheap Challenge and gothic architecture. You don't have to be any good at it to pass either, just be able to ramble on long enough.

No sweat, I do remember the agony though, 4 years at high school and 4 at university, and that was enough for me.

I'm no highschooler. University student, me. *nods*

Although the point still pretty much stands... just my exams actually matter, whereas GCSEs and A-levels (the staple qualifications of the UK education system) are just a means to get to uni.

Yeah...hence why I was only talking to the highschoolers... :P

You college geeks aren't included!
