And here I am just waiting for someone to stumble into my living room - with the swords, dart gun, blow gun, axes, polearms, crossbows etc. There are a few black powder rifles too but they take too long to load.

I love being an active member in the SCA

the SCA is kind of dodgy where i live... plus my university is sketchy about the weapons thing...about all i have is a nice sharp pocketknife in my desk.

Society for Creative Anachronism. It's pretty medieval. They have jousts with fake weapons and old-school feasts and so forth. It's pretty cool.

Crossbows are illegal in New York State to own but not illegal to sell or buy. It's the same with switchblades and butterfly knives. I never got that. But the hicks up here have enough guns to take over a third world country. And practically everyone around here is a member of the NRA. Hunting season is pretty bad up here but not because of the hicks and their guns but because of the city people who can't shoot for crap and can't tell the difference between a deer and a human in an orange vest. When I was a kid, a hunter put a bullet through my bedroom window. I don't know what the hell he was aiming at and he would have had to be pretty damn close to area to do that and there are quite a few houses around me so it's not like I live in the middle of nowhere (almost though). Anyways, I prefer the bow. It takes more skill than shooting a gun.

And Blackpowder guns are the best. I'm planning on becoming a Civil War Reenactor in the near future. I just need the money to buy the uniform and the gear.

Hey, I'm no carpetbagger, you Johnny Reb. But, yes, the Billy Yanks all the way (though there are Confederate units around as well). David, you said you were from the South right? Are there still a lot of people down there that believe that the Lost Cause will be revived someday? There was some kid that moved up to my town from Virginia. Had the Southern accent and everything. He told everyone that his father was a member of the KKK and that someday the South would rise again. One of my friends finally turned around and said to him, "We are Roman Catholic Irish Americans, you stupid Anglo-Saxon idiot, and we don't give a damn about your stupid KKK crap that wants to kill us all for being Catholic and Irish." Needless to say he didn't say anything for the rest of the year after he realized that about 85% of the people going to my school were Roman Catholic and of Irish heritage or that about 10% were Jewish. It's sorta funny how prejudice like those still exist today. He wanted nothing to do with us after he learned from what background we were from and what religion.
I have another friend from South Carolina that works at the camp that I work at every year. He says that a lot of people are talking about the Lost Cause and that perhaps someday that it will be revived. He doesn't care too much because he is Roman Catholic as well and a third generation Italian Immergrant. But that is still scary that people believe that stuff down there.

Heehee, I got in touch with my redneck roots today....driving around on a tractor to pick up horse poop!

Much more time efficient than trudging back and forth across 15 acres to rake up manure on foot.

And yes... you probably never wanted to know any of that, but I'm really really bored right now.
