I don't leg press all that often. I use freeweights.

Good to hear you're into weighlifting, my friend. It's really a great thing.

But remember, brother, be careful. It's very easy to injure yourself. Hope you've got some sort of mentor. And remember to balance out everything. Bench, deadlift and squats are the basics, but there's alot more to it than that. Isolation techniques, variations, ect. You have to even out you're strength.

Do to much bench press without building up you're back and shoulders and without properly stretching, you can end up doing some damage. Neglect you're core and you'll pay for it.

There's a lot more to it than just bench squats and deads. Two things I'd reccomend is chins, with all the variations, upright and bent over rows, as well as dips. Sit ups never go wrong either.

Curls are good, but don't overdo it. Biceps are largely just bling muscles (although not to say that they're not important.).

And don't overtrain. It can damage you and slow down you're progress. Just train hard when you do.

And don't be discourged with newer excercises. Hard at first, but you build up. Like chin ups and dips. Most people can't do any, but all it takes is a few every day.

Keeping a journal of you're workouts (The numbers) is a good way to check you're progress.

And eat you're vegetables and drink you're tea. Trust me. Don't drink too much booze.

And lastly, stay the hell away from the drugs. Don't touch that stuff, man. You'll encounter it, but for Christ's sake, don't touch it.

No, no need to thank me for the unsolicited advice. It's the least I could do.

I've never been much for putting out numbers. But for someone of you're age, I can tell you that you're doing very good, Pie. And it's good you've started as young as you have. Keep working at it, and you're on you're way. Good stuff.

Welcome to the wonderful world of weight trainning.

Well, I mean, tea's not essential, but it's good for you. Not gallons of the stuff, but a bit helps you out.

But if you don't like it, it wouldn't end the whole operation.

This is a stupid post, really, because there's a difference between say, leg pressing 50kg once or leg pressing 20kg over a hundred times, it's called Fast twitch and Slow twitch muscles.

Sorry about my ignorant post.. I read the first few posts, didn't know there were more pages.

10 ey? My goal thingy is 12 when I'm in the gym, either 12 or 15.

Pie- where do you do Gym work?? At the local Gym, at home, school?

Me too. Twelve, usually. Not fifteen. I've always used twelve.

Pie, you do that with the team, or just on you're own?

Just by myself.

And not verry often really, I have to do cals, and I have to tackle people in football bractice to much to be able to go to the gym.

Becaus mr. hedges leaves at around 5-530, and I get off at 530. Sometimes i can get off early, or he stays a bit late.

Reps of ten then? Alright...

Squats: 120 lbs I would estimate
Bench Press: 70-75 lbs

This is from a 135 lb 15 year old who only started working out (because he has to for gym).
Just because you're older, smarter, stronger, more talented... doesn't mean you're BETTER.

That's not bad. I personally like working out by myself. Some people find crowded gyms distracting, and for people starting off, even intimidating (although most of the time, there's not a good reason to be intimidated.)

But then again, if you can find one or two people to do it with, then it can help. Group motivation, you know? Also, it's very helpful to have an experienced mentor (You’re father, an older brother, cousin, uncle, friend, or whatever), or just someone who can help you out a bit. And once you get a bit more advanced, you'll need at least one other person who knows what they're doing around to spot you.

You don't have to work out very often, but you really should try and do it regularly. If you do three very hard work outs a week, with some normal, non weight excercise in between, then you're fine. They don't even have to be long, but you have to work hard. But three times a week is all you need.

Also, believe it or not, running helps with weights a whole lot.

Hey, well, that’s not bad, man. It’s a start. Everything takes time. All the monster guys you see started off low same as you (And most people don’t even want to be monstrously big, I know. That’s a whole lifestyle.) I know I started there. You can’t start lifting two hundred pounds in the first week. It takes time.

But keep at it, you’ll build up. It’s all about hard work and consistency. Now, I don’t know if you want to keep going after you’re gym class is over, but you should think about it. It’s great for you, and strength will help you in anything, in a fight, or otherwise. Plus strength is attractive. But that’s just me. I don’t know if you’re really into it or not, but it’s really great if you ask me.
Thing is, too man, a lot of very strong people couldn’t bench a lawn chair but are stronger than guys who can lift a bus. Numbers are meaningless, so don’t worry about what other people are doing. It’s just one way of building muscle.

But if you’re into it, you should take the advice I gave Pie on this thing. If you ask me, it’s ingenious.

Good luck, eh? And keep at it.

I'll bet you anything that that guy will be dead within ten years tops. He's a great example of what the juice will do.

Don't get me started on juicing.

Well, really I'd be intimidating OTHER people.(Just like i intimidate people in football) (Also not many 8th graders who can do a 10 rep squat of 160. ) It's just that most people don't stay in the gym past 4:30 in this school.

Mr.hedges is fairly experianced in weight lifting. plus if i needed extr help i got's 3 older brothers who all are athleticly advanced (exept joel works and plays computer, and the oldest one has his back problems frome this accadent frome boot-camp)
