Personally, I loved NwN. I thought the gameplay was superb as was the ability to make a virtually unique character - expecially so with all NwN's expansions. I never really liked Diablo 2. WoW would probably be the funnest, but that monthly bill sure is a killer - its the only reason I haven't gotten it.

But I heard galaxies sucked, if only because it was too hard to get to jedi status, and then the guys decided to make jedi a selectable character so all the old players quit because their hard work was for naught.

yeah... i wouldn't play it for the jedi class. I like the other skills.

Jedi is selected now, eh? That does suck. I wouldn't play. In the stories, there are way more regular folks than jedi. Like 1000:1. I think it should be difficult to be a jedi.

I believe you can select jedi, last i knew one of my friends (who beta tested the game) was pissed.

I liked the old system, in which you had to level up alot of skills and could 'ascend' to a jedi after countless hours of gameplay, making it something available only to the elite players.

Neverwinter Nights definatly spanks Diablo... not that's it's a better looking game or anything NWN is pretty low-tech for when it was made, but it is much more indepth, and has a more fulfilling combat system. Only problem is that it's based off a turn based system so it's a lot harder to play something like an unarmoured wizard who in DnD would have a lot of time to decide what spell to cast and exactly when to cast it etc, though the somewhat heaver casters like clerics and druids are much fun :D . WoW has a nice combat interface, and being MMO makes it good for playing with friends etc. but it gets repetitive and the lack of an ongoing storyline doesn't help. I like RPGs with a main quest and plot twists etc which MMOs just don't have... except Cantr b/c it's so heavy on the RP (just found out a respected merchant from city "X" was a thief when she was younger  ).

Oh yes and about the Oblivion leveling... Monsters don't level only people, so an ogre is always an orge and a mudcrab is always a mudcrab but that emp you saw when you were a wee lil level 3 is now a big mean dreamora, so fighting that mosnter now is very different than what you would have fought had you gone through earlier in the game, now it's faster, casts compleatly different spells, and has differnent resistances and vulnerabilities so it's not like all those emps you've long since figureed out how to kill 2 weeks ago. This form of leveling exists b/c it has a non-linar plot (very big plus on Bethesta's part). It's like this: there are many guilds in the game you can join for side quests, and other random ones you can find just wondering around and talking to people and these quests have no specific order they were ment to be taken in, so to avoid the tedium of having to level up to take certain quests then walking strait through the low level quests you accendently missed, they made it such that as you progress, all of the quests will provide a decent level of difficulty.

Guildwars did a fairly good job of having an interesting story line with plenty of plot and plot twists. Unfortunatly all story lines finish, and when they are done there is a very limited number of things you can do.

I bought the game today. I can run the game at normal graphics. My first person I made really sucks though. I am going to make a new one when I wake up. *looks at clock* OMG 75 hours till school starts. I must make the best of this time I have now. BTW the graphics are still cool at normal. I tried it at ultra and omg did it looks wicked, but the game really really glitches.

Did you people notice that? How difficult is to make a good-looking char in Oblivion? I'm sure that game developers did it in purpose. To keep that unique, medieval style of the game - compare char creation in Oblivion and in... The Sims 2? :)

I dont know, I made I pretty hot looking woodelf archer chick, kind bothered me they didn't let you adjust her build though b/c female elves look pretty damn anerexic until you slap them in a nice suit of glass armor (echanchanted with Sigil Stones) <-this part optional though recommended. The problem is... you basicly have to be good enough at charater modeling from scratch to begin with to have any chance at making a believable character profile, staying away from extreams when adjusting your sliderbars is ussally a good rule of thumb though. Also if you spend enough time cycling through the randomizer you'll ussally come up with sometihng better than most people could do themsleves

I agree :) It is very easy to make someting unnatural, it is always important to check all of 3 dimensions. But it is not only about the model, I don't like skin textures - maybe because my graphic settings are not the best, I'm not sure.

Not played, won't play it. The microtransactions plus the stupid system specs, and Morrowinds borring nature (sorry NwN and GW kept me interested for over 700 hours each, Morrowind I got bored with after 3.)

It's quite different from Morrowind. Morrowind had an empty feeling. It had no life.

a friend of mine sell computers optimized for oblivion:

this is what you get:
ASUS A8R-MVP
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
1GB Corsair XMS DDR400
Western Digital SE16 250GB
Sapphire ATI X1900XT 512MB
Microsoft Windows XP Home
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion DVD

I think you can max all the settings this way, but it sure is expensive if you need a new computer just for this game..
