to all,

regarding Men, VS Boys:

Pixies description
A man, is a person over the age of 21. thus legal to drink and therefor actually less prone to it.
A man is a human of the male gender who opens doors for the woman, but understands when "on occation" she feels the need to open the damn thing herself.
A man knows how to say "yes dear" sarcastically, but not piss off the woman he said it to.

you have to do/be all those things listed above to be a man....

A boy is a person under the age of 21, thus not legal to drink, and a boy generally believes he must drink often to impress his friends.
A boy is a human of the male gender who has no respect, cant be polite, or thinks to much about himself to open the door for the lady he happens to be with. (dating or not!)
A boy is very good at pissing the general populace of females off, no matter where he is, what he says or how he says it.

you only have to do/be one of those things above to be a boy.

there are many people on forum or in game whom I would call boys because they are annoying....HOWEVER!!! slight differences can occur. for instance.

Muffin boy is called a boy by me because it used to annoy him. and I love annoying my friends.

Chris is a boy because he is sooo much younger then me. he is also my friend.

Anthony is a boy because well.... i felt like classifying him as such. its easier that way. also a friend.

so in conclusion. muffin boy, anthony and chris are boys (but really, men because you guys are pretty damn good guys) and Apache 1959 is a MAN. also a friend, but a MAN friend.

*grins and ducks* or a respected elder.... take your pick.

Toodles!

Dear ACOL,
I had background checks on them, so no worries.
Just so you can ease your mind, they were females. Trust me.
Now go do whatever it is you do best.

If you really wanted to find out if they were men, women, or other, you should have done a frontground check!

Ha! Of course.. What was I thinking...
So, how exactly did we get on this normally strange topic?

Dear Pixie;

I may not be 21, but I can still drink legally... Does that count?

Dear Pixie,
Some of us are Engrishy types, so can drink from 18 (16 with a meal). Does that mean we aren't men yet? Even though I'm a gentleman, I don't drink and never will.
Sincerly,
ACOL

Dear JJ,
Leave the gremlins out of this, they are too cute to be drug related.

Dear Pixie,

I was thinking the same thing. What if they're legal to drink at their age under 21? I know when I become 19, I'm able to drink (However, I'm not 18). My question is, what if this MAN doesn't drink at all? I don't touch alcohol, and I doubt I ever will (Except Wine on special occasions, which I'm used to drinking.). If I don't drink, does that make me a boy? If anything, I would say that makes me more of a man than one that does drink.

Sure, men will say "You gotta drink to be a man!" but shouldn't women say "You shouldn't drink and you'll be a man!" - Like, comon, if I don't drink, then I won't be intoxicated, I won't throw a fist, I won't get angry at small things, I'll know exactly what I'm doing and how to react to things, I won't slur when I talk, I won't puke on the ground and make someone else clean it, I won't smell like booze, I won't sit down on a chair with a beer bottle in my hand watching the ball game, I'll just be my normal gentleman like self. Does that make me a man, or a boy?

Love,
Anthony Roberts

Dear Anthony,
Good point. Not drinking or doing stuff like that is good. It's harder when you were brought up around stuff like that, so being able to not do that stuff is victory, regardless of who thinks you're a man or a boy.

Your penis makes you a boy.
Not drinking makes you a child

Jokes aside, I don't think people should go around feeling proud of themselves for not touching alcohol etc. Life is about getting experiences, and by never drinking and getting drunk you can't grasp the concept, and that leads to ridiculois things like claiming that people who drink becomes violent, smelly slobs.

Dear everybody,

I first stopped following this topic since it seemed to be solely concentrated on picking on Brandon. When it reached page ten I regained interest since I don't believe continuing about the topic mentioned before could go on for that long. So then I read the whole thread. Some material (*Lot's of eraser dust from this point forward.*) umm... ummm  shooould certainly have a warning on it. For the children. Errr.. could I possibly borrow Pixie's gremlins after certain yucky mothly occurence is over?

But for those who grow up around drunks.. It is pretty easy to see the negatives. Truthfully, there is very few people these days who "drink responsibly".

I have had a couple very good friends die from drunk driving accidents.

Myself, I wont drink anything, that doesnt make me better than them in any way, and it doesnt make them better than me either.
If they want to drink, thats fine by me. its the people that start driving and getting violent that bother me, its not the person or the fact that they drink. its what happens if they are not responsable enough to know when to quit.

Well, I used to drink and liked doing it because everyone would tell me how I handle it so well. I wouldn't act stupid or anything, but I still wasn't myself. I was very vunerable and all the other girls I knew who drunk were the same way. The guys would act violent or do things they normally wouldn't do that could have gotten them into loads of trouble. So I think they should feel proud. I myself had to test the waters first but now I too am proud to say I'm not a drinker anymore. I was very responsible but I still choose not to. Not even wine. To tempting.

But you got a chance to find out for yourself...don't you see that as a good thing? My point wasn't that people should drink...it was that until you have tried getting drunk at least once you really can't even have an opinion about drinking.

Reality is based on our own experiences. By trying things you expand your view of reality.

None of my friends get aggressive or strange when they drink. Then again, I don't surround myself with drunks...
As with (almost) everything else alcohol is harmless when handled by a person who is responsible and isn't prone to abuse. But for people with the right (or rather wrong) conditions everything is potentially dangerous...food, sex, games, work, love. Anything can be abused.

I drink small amounts. I have never been remotely out of my head.

Which reminds me, where did I put my drink?
