Thought or Rant of the day!!!

The best players, create characters that give RP. Give chances, give choices, give an interesting life. Sure, might also give unpleasant situations and terror, and annoyance, but that's part of the game - not all being soft fluffy carebears, hugging all the time. Some of the greatest notes I've read, have been of blood and war, of hatred and tyranny, of rising up against odds and ending them.

Plus, the bar they set, forces me to work to get over that. And everyone wins, when we all play our best.

This, exactly. And it makes me sad when the kind of characters that make the game so addicting to me in the first place seem so unwanted. Not really a friendly environment, on any level, for chars that get out and make things happen vs those that stand around and chat or have sex all day.

My high school was on the news the other day. Apparently a bat fell out of the sky and a bunch of kids were petting it and someone kissed it before anyone thought of bringing it to a biology teacher, who called the CDC. Turns out it tested positive for rabies. Nobody was bit, but at least ten kids got rabies vaccines anyway.

Yesterday was the christening of my son. It was probably a lifetime experience. Anyway, having a son is a great thing - now I've got an excuse to play with Lego (well, for now it's just Lego Duplo, but it's better than nothing )

Not sure how to react to my roommate.

So the suitemates put a trash can in the bathroom so we all have a place to put our ahems whenever we're on our coughcoughs instead of dragging them back out. Today they left a passive-aggressive note over it basically saying it's our turn to take it out. (Which it is; as far as I know, they're the only ones that have ever done it.) It's not overflowing and I already clean the hair out of the shower drain twice a week (a result from yet another passive-aggressive note on the wall), so I delegated it to the Roommates.
Roommate 1 (the richer one who also sleeps through her alarm at night) is like, "Well if they didn't want to deal with the mess of the trash can in there they shouldn't have put the trash can in there. I'm not taking it out and I'm not going to use it anymore."
And I'm like, "We do take advantage of their trashcan in our shared bathroom. We could share the responsibility of taking the trash out every once in a while."
Roommate 2 said she'll do it but so far she hasn't.... ¬¬


Also midterms and papers this week. It's not that any of these things are explicitly "midterm" (no "midterm" exams, although I do have a unit test in ODE on Wednesday that's only this week because we put it off for forever lol), it's that everything sort of lined up this week in the most annoying, sleep-depriving way possible. So I had a paper due today and a presentation that I was supposed to do at 9am but the professor ended up having a stomach bug that's going around the music school so that's being moved to Wednesday. Swing dancing was moved to 9pm instead of 8pm so if I go to that that means being up past midnight just showering (I'm not going). I have a paper due tomorrow at 10am plus band rehearsal in concert attire (picture day). Then Wednesday I have that presentation, an ODE unit test, a rehearsal with my accompanist, another paper due that's like twice the size of the first two papers combined, a studio lesson, and then I'm playing in studio class. Then I have to drive into Orlando at like 8 at night through I-4 construction madness. Fortunately that's it for the week because FALL BREAK I HAVE A FOUR-DAY WEEKEND WOOOOOOOOOOOO.



Edit: So it turns out I misremembered the note the first time. The note was about cleaning the whole bathroom, not just taking out the trash. It's still our turn. I know for sure I haven't cleaned it ever (other than the shower drain) and I know Roommate 1 hasn't cleaned it, and I highly doubt Roommate 2 has cleaned it either. So I cleaned the shower drain and took out the trash and I'm delegating the rest. Still haven't seen Roommate 2 since early this morning and Roommate 1 is still pissed off that we should have to clean the bathroom at all, so she plans to go around to the community bathrooms (on the other side of the building and/or completely different floors mind you) so that she can claim no responsibility in dirtying up our shared bathroom and thus no obligation to clean it. I'm like, "Suck it up, grab that spray bottle, and help." In real life, you have to clean your things or people get pissed off at you. (I'm pretty sure she has a maid or housekeeper or something and has never cleaned a bathroom in her life.)
But not right now. Because homework and exams.

Roommate 1 is pissed off about that too, that classes should dare give out homework when there are midterm exams to be taken. Also that midterms happen before fall break and not after.
I noted that none of my classes are having a midterm "exam" and I just have a ton of homework for them... more than usual because of the papers but still within the range of normal. Also if exams were after fall break everyone would fail because NOBODY STUDIES DURING FALL BREAK. EVERYONE GOES OUT AND ENJOYS THEMSELVES BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT CRAMMING FOR MIDTERM EXAMS. NOBODY WANTS TO WORRY ABOUT EXAMS. IT'S CALLED FALL BREAK FOR A REASON.

There was a pack of bread rolls I had told my brother on Sunday night that he couldn't have any of because they were for my lunch this week. I just went to get some lunch to find he's eaten the last one...and therefore left me with no lunch

Sometimes hypocrisy of the known drama perpetrators is surprising me. While they are responsible of various unpleasant events they can still act as they have been victim and they appear as they're taking side with the really misunderstood people. Though they just react because an opportunity arrived and they can show themselves.

I am really enjoying feeling this kid kick. 14 or so weeks to go and it still hasn't really sunk in yet. I feel like I should be prepping more than I am.

I just got done with the season premiere of American Horror Story: Hotel. The amount of weird in this season is unreal.

My wife and I are on vacation and touring the byways of the Appalachian Mountains while the leaves turn.
The colors, oh my... the mountains near us look like a patchwork quilt of green, red, peach, and yellow.
As an admitted and unapologetic Christian, I was overwhelmed by the beauty of Gods paintbrush.

I hope everyone gets a chance to see the dance of death of the dying leaves,
yes it is fatalistic, but the sense of peace and contentment we felt as we explored places that humans rarely venture,
overpowering.

I urge all who are in the eastern and southern USA to experience this at least once.
The colors will not disappoint.

So, I can’t get something off my mind, so I'm going to try venting to see if it helps. It is Cantr related, but because I'm neither confused, annoyed, thrilled, nor amused, this seems like the best thread. I'd like to emphasize that: I'm not angry, and I my goal isn't to make anyone but me feel any kind of way, just to get this out.

I have one character I truly abhor, the only one that doesn't do what I want them to because I can't convince them to with their personality and history. If I, the player, could step into the world of Cantr in a body and talk to them, I could save them. (I've even tried giving them dreams to fix them, but they refuse to trust the dreams as being anything other than their own flaws trying to trick them.) As I can’t, I just wish I could kill them without feeling I was probably hurting someone real.

Well within the last few days and ongoing, so I have to try to be extra vague, they were driven to doing things that really didn't help much. I'm not happy about what drove them, but I believe I can let that go as just being other players playing a game I just can't relate to. Live, let live, move on. But I can't shake what were technically my own actions even though I hated them even as I did them for the character. I want to apologize. I know the character’s an idiot. I think I can say it won't happen again, but not that nothing like that or worse won't either. But then, the others seem to have enjoyed it anyway. Go figure. I don't have to understand how they could enjoy the bit I can’t to keep loving the players as people.

So why can't I shake the incident? Where does the venting come in? I don't even know, to be honest. Who else here has been left with adrenaline in their system over something that doesn't even matter to them as a player? Or am I in denial and I actually do care? And if I'm in denial, what am I supposed to do to let this go? I would like to move on with my day.
