I feel your pain, Undine. There are some online textbook sources tho, those textbook companies will eat you alive. D:
Me, I'm getting ready for school too, but from the other side of the desk.
It's sink or swim time again!!

I study English literature (among various other aspects of the English language), so I definitely feel your pain. Physically too, those books are heavy!

My MR machine shat itself today, so I haven't been able to see any patients for three hours. As a result, I'm being paid to sit in the tearoom and eat cake. Dream job?

I had to get three stitches in my thumb yesterday. The culprit? A butter knife.

I'm genuinely curious as to how you managed that.

It's kind of embarrassing, actually. I was about to make lunch, and I was trying to pry apart these two frozen hamburger patty things (broke college kids can only afford almost-food), and I guess I was using quite a lot of force. The butter knife slipped and went right into my thumb.
So that was annoying, but the things that took place afterwards were even more irritating. I went to the on-campus health services place, but nobody was in there for whatever reason. I then ran to campus security, and they brought me to a MedExpress a few blocks away. They needed my health insurance information before they could treat me, though (one reason why I hate healthcare in the United States), so we went back to Campus so I could print off my health insurance card. The website wasn't working properly, though, so I had to call the company. Finally, after about two hours of running around with a very deep cut in my hand, I was able to be treated.

I've done a similar thing to that, though not with a butter knife - technically, it was a dinner knife. We'd just gotten a fancy brand new set from my grandmother as a wedding gift (so this was... three or four years ago?) and I had no idea the top inch of the knife was actually quite sharp. It was so sharp, in fact, that the only pain came after the fact, and I had no idea what had happened for a few seconds. My thumb just started welling up blood and bleeding everywhere.
The dishwasher has blunted them all now, though.

I get the hamburger conundrum. I'm a scungy MR tech; I live off cereal and canned tuna. And, you're a rare talent, Undine. Magnificent effort

Sounds good to me...
I prefer to slice my fingers with the sharp knifes though, trying to 'save time' by cutting veg without using a chopping board. I took the very, very tip off of one finger once. That was fun...not
