I spent about an hour cleaning off snow from on top of and around the car. That gives me a sense of accomplishment. Now hopefully it will be in drivable condition tomorrow when I need it.

My other half and I have decided to get a kitten. Well, more like I begged and he eventually agreed and now I keep pestering him about it. We've always wanted one, but never really had the opportunity. Anyways, you'd just think you can go out and get one. Wrong! Here in the middle of nowhere, there are no kittens it seems. You want a kitten? You have to pay almost 500 pounds for some pedigree, and if you even start considering it, it's gone the next day. All reserved or sold!

So I thought, hell, lets look at the cat rescue center? Apparently, they only have one cat up for adoption. I'm hoping it says that just because they haven't updated the site. I'd love to have one of those cute maine coon kittens, but 500 pounds is going to kill us. And there is nothing wrong with rescue kittens. My sister got her cat from the RSPCA in South Africa, and he is the most amazing cat I have ever seen in my life. Loving, friendly, vocal as hell (cute but annoying when you're trying to sleep), and he has this constant stoner look to him. He walks in all like "What up my bitches, dayum last night was craaaaaaazy" and then he just falls over. When he's that out of it he can't walk 5 paces without flopping over. And he drools. But he's by far the sweetest cat we've ever had.

So, wish me luck finding a kitten and keeping our money. Need something to love and snuggle!

Good luck Bos.

I have had cats most of my life and we have 3 now.

You don't need pedigree.
I have had both and its the same as with dogs: In general, the mutts have better health and better temperament.
The pedigrees are sometimes nicer to look at, but its not a primary reason to get them imo.

Snickie is partially Mane (big kitty approaching 20lbs) and then we have two Siamese that seem pure bred.
Oddly enough, both were strays that we rescued off the street.

I hope you find a furry friend and get years of enjoyment out of it.

Just to clarify: I am not a Maine coon. In fact, I am not even a cat. I just happen to love cats, especially my cats, especially my cat named Snick.

Snick the cat is part Maine coon - we think her mother was one, or at least part Maine coon. She was big and fluffy and had all the right colors too. Snick is solid black though, so her father was probably black and was also probably short-hair because her fur is medium-length (not long enough to be considered "long-hair" but definitely longer than other shorthairs we've had).

Indeed, one doesn't need a pedigree. I've actually found with most of the cats we've had the non-pedigrees have been the nicest with the most personality. But I did have a pure ragdoll that was the sweetest little girl ever, until my mother gave her away. :c So I can't really say it's true that pedigrees don't have as much personality.

We'll see how it goes though. The latest development is that my sister is moving into a university hostel on the other side of South Africa, and she wants to know if I can take her cat, the awesome one I was referring to earlier. I would love to keep him, but something tells me the cost to fly him over here, get all the vaccinations and chipping done so he doesn't have to be quarantined, will be WAY over the budget than even the 500 pound kitten. That and the stress on the poor guy would be cruel. So perhaps I should leave him with my mom.

Decisions, argh.

Well, my Australian friends, looks like we'll be rping more together soon. We had two girls quit at work this week (mother/daughter such drama arrr) and I've gone and volunteered to switch off my 6am-3pm EST shift to the 9pm-6am EST shift permanently.

I'd assume GMT -4,-3 at the most extreme (compared to GMT -5 where some of us Muricans live).

Most of the caribbean is at -5 GMT, a couple of islands at -4 and the western part at -6.

So quilink, I don't see the problem. Unless your characters are polish, then yes, you probably would have no one at the same time playing. But for english, spanish, even portuguese, you are in a good time zone (the australians have bad luck!).

I'm generally on around the time you get up, though it's when I'm just getting home from work and I'm exhausted by then. But the weekends I'm on most of the day since I'm able to sleep at night like a normal person.

I have two cats. I'm currently knitting a beret for one and leg warmers for the other.
Wish me luck.
