Then they can go get an abortion, I don't care about religious qualms, if you don't want to do that, put your child up for adoption. There are solutions.

Adoption is usually the best way... but that's a hard thing to do.

Plus, abortion is often dangerous to the mother, even if it's really early on.

Abortion is not that dangerous, if done properly. It is only a serious problem when it is done in illegal, unsafe settings. Hundreds of women die in Ethiopia every year from infections after visiting illegal abortion clinics.

I'll stay out of this part of the discussion.

abortion is safe if done early.

But it's not easy - it's a really hard decision - you're an idiot for thinking it's such an easy choice Race...

The US government (at the behest of the religious right) are (indirectly) causing the deaths of thousands a year. They refuse to give aid to any country that provides any form of abortion. This means that countries will stop abortion programs in order to recieve US aid.

This doesn't mean abortions stop. This means abortions are done illegally, and are very unsafe.
Whoever you vote for.

The government wins.

I'm pro-choice. But I am also pro-being smart about things and don't get yourself into a dumb situation that really could have been avoided in 99% of all cases.

Because choosing to abort a baby is a very tough choice. An impossible choice to most feeling people. It's not perfectly safe, but yes, it's best if done early. Third trimester abortions especially don't sit right with me.

Adoption is another acceptable route to go. Again, it is extremely tough, and a moral dilemma for the mother, and in some rare cases, even the father. If I could council someone between adoption or abortion, I would council for the adoption.

But when it comes down to it, I am pro-choice. I don't view the act as murder as some extremists would have people view it. This is a decision that the government cannot make for everyone. As farmer points out, declaring it illegal doesn't stop it, it just makes things that much more dangerous for the already scared and distraught mothers.
