Meh, everyone gets the idea. This is also a thought of the day thread, or a recipe of the day so it might as be a brief complaint of the day. I've seen people who rp stuff they don't have skills for and that sucks. I had a blind character once, at first they could only do resource gathering or assisted projects but learned to do sewing on their own. It was difficult making people realize she was blind but there was a feeling of victory when the realization dawned upon them. Then there are blind characters who don't act blind at all and do stuff like use a potato harvester. I'd assume potato harvesters are great big things which move on wheels, so I'd imagine that be dangerous for a blind person to ride, or more like the people who get on the way. But it's true that in real life blind people can do a lot of stuff other people wouldn't think they could do, for example know where an obstacle is because they can hear the echo changing, and when they dodge the obstacle without touching it with their cane, people go "That's not a real blind person!" - but they don't know about the echo thing, and also if the person knows the area, they learn to remember where the stationary obstacles are.
Also I had an illiterate character with limited speech and understanding, but no one ever read notes aloud to him and I think only one person was patient enough to teach him new words. Everyone thinks that the player must be literate enough to play Cantr so why waste my time repeating something they can read? Well if copypasting the contents of a note is too time consuming, you could at least say *reads aloud the note titled XYZ*, and then the player of the illiterate character could read the note if it's still available. That would show caring.
Currently I have two characters who are slightly retarded or different, but if people have noticed this, they've sure been very nice to them. They've been spawned with limited knowledge and have learned things in the game. The other one had to figure out how to make iron without any instructions, if I was a hardcore player, she shouldn't have figured it out before someone else came along to teach her. But I took a little shortcut there. I think this character is close to 50 now and still doesn't know anything about sex or even kissing.
Then I had Seko who apparently had severe dyslexia among other things, but most people didn't figure out that if they want to slip him a note, they had better use simple words and sentences to get the message through. Gabi was wonderful in that he drew pictures instead of writing.
