I will be quite busy on May Day so I thought I would celebrate early on the boards. I will be working a lot before and through May Day (go figure!)
There is a long international tradition of the May Day Labor Holiday.
For those that don't know, May Day is when the working-class of the world celebrate their solidarity against parisitic interests and commemorate the contribution the workers of all nations have made to the advancement of society for all humanity. It is akin to the watered-down labor day that the American President Grover Cleveland established in order to try and keep workers from commemorating and honoring the memories of the slaughter of American workers surrounding the events at Haymarket Square Chicago, Illinois at the hands of state and corporate power in May 1886.
If that wasn't enough, a new fake holiday was established to "counter" May Day in America known as "Loyalty Day". I don't know anyone, Liberal or Conservative, who celebrates the farcical artificial holiday of "Loyalty Day". However, Veteran's Day is a legitimate Holiday.
Happy May Day All!

I didnt' know about May Day until quite recently--at least not that it was a world-wide thing.
My Revolutions and Social Change professor, Gueorgui Matveevic Derluguian, told us about it the other day. Fascinating class.
David, you'd really like it.
He's an ex-KGB/Soviet army guy who starts his class emails with "Citizens and Comrades!"
