One of the Alien movies basically had that premise.
The main computer was called "mother".
In the first movie there was only "the company" which they later back off from.

It is still not hard to imagine large companies mergering together until they no longer hide the strings they pull in the goverment.

Pure EVIL! I wouldn't be overly surprized if Microsoft tried buying something like that.

in all the alien movies the ship computer was mother or father. the company vanished in the fourth one because the company was now the military...lol good switch. but the company was around in the first 3 movies.

as to merging companys that people dont realize are one big company... lets take a look at Disney, Microsoft, McDonalds and PepsiCola company. All three somehow get exclusive rights to eachothers products. isnt that interesting? Brittany Spears was contracted with Disney for years and she got a contract with Pepsi, McDonalds gets all the disney toys when new cartoons come out. Microsoft manufactures most if not all of disneys computer games, not because everything is microsoft compatable, but because they have a contract. oh and get this, now at disneyland and at the big disney world in florida, there are McDonalds stations where you can buy frys... is there a burgerking in Disney???? nooo......

i tell you, they are all one huge global company that is slowly taking over the world. we are all doomed.
