Star Trek Play By E-Mail Games

Postby wichita » Tue Mar 11, 2008 10:51 pm

This is for all of those people like me that have a big creative storytelling streak, but don't always have enough hours in a day to keep an MMO character alive and active. I've got into play by e-mail gaming about a year ago. I'm finding it a nice little way to relax between work and Cantr.

If you can write a few paragraphs in just a couple of minutes, or have short little breaks in the course of a day to poke your e-mail and edit a growing post, it may be a good genre for you. The best part? Pirates can't backstab your character while you're AFK! :D

Anyway, the two I have gotten involved with are free form Star Trek fanfiction games.

http://www.firstera.net/ -- Based on the Enterprise series (22nd century, my favorite!)
http://www.sixth-fleet.com/ -- Game year is 2384 right now, continuing the TNG, DS9, Voyager timeline.

Just in case anyone might like to try them out.

O.o Jos? O_O The... Jos... I thought you quit or something. W00tzers. Hopefully this means something good will happen to Cantr.

Anyway, E-mail games... how do they work?

I joined, wichita. I am on your ship. I also envy you your time in Finland. Haven't been there in... 14 years?

Star Trek Online...
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2008/08 ... #more-2281

I'm looking forward to this, not as I have a particular affinity to Star Trek (I absolutely love TNG, but never really liked DS9, and Voyager was just ok.) but because I know how there are a large number of dedicated RPers hooked on Star Trek...
Given the demise of SeeD (which I still mourn for), this may be the next best bet for a graphical MMO on a largeish scale with a good RP element.

Played EVE before with RP corps, which was fun, but I dropped out after a while. Maybe we should get together a Cantr group come the release?
