For those interested in classics or geology - Homer's Ithica

Postby formerly known as hf » Tue Oct 17, 2006 1:05 pm

Anyone who's interested in classical studies, archaeology or geology may well be interested in www.odysseus-unbound.org and some current research into a possible site for the Ithica of Homer's Odyssey.

In short, it proposes that the western penninsula of contemporary Cephallonia in Greece was once a seperate island, and the site of Odysseus' home.

I spent last week covered in mud at the bore hole site... Fingers currently crossed that the lab can actually do anything with the samples gathered...
