Child's Play

http://www.childsplaycharity.org

The charity I just posted was done by Penny-Arcade, the online webcomic to give toys, games, books, money and hope itself to children for Christmas. Children's hospitals around the world are listed there. Please, give today. They have wishlists for each hospital set up, only new items except, please don't send used items, the germs could make the sick child even worse.

Your poor?

Then why you got a computer? If you're that poor, sell it and use it to buy useful things, like food, poor man.

We'll i'd guess pie is living at his parent(s) place still just like me.

And he doesn't directly own that computer so has no means to sell it.

Imagine living with your parents... in a tiny cold apartment... with an angular old computer with Windows.. 3.1 and two floppy disk stations. You share a room with your two brothers and you sleep in a three storey bed. Don't forget the cat that comes licking your face. You have to sleep on the bottom bunk because you're the youngest and tend to roll out of bed. Once you broke your wrist that way. Or at least, that's what you told the doctor.

Your big brothers sleep on the upper bunks, Johnny is in the middle, he's 15, and Billy is 17. Sometimes they bring girlfriends over. Whooo that old triple bed rocks like a ship in a storm, you're afraid it'll fall apart and crush you, but you can't get up because you're too scared of stepping a roach in the dark - maybe even a mouse. Not to forget the silverfish.

You also have a dog called George. Last month it turned out it's a girl dog... well that explains why it's been spotting blood on the floor sometimes. There's seven puppies in a cardboard box now, in the corner of the kitchen and you feed them from a bottle sometimes.

Your big sister Cherina sleeps in the kitchen. She's 22. She has a baby. The baby sleeps in a cardboard box too (not the same one with the puppies though). The baby often cries at night but when she mixes cheap liquer in the bottle of milk, everyone has a nice silent night. Momma doesn't complain. She only says that Cherina should put the window open when she smokes. (Momma and Dad sleep in the living room, but usually they're at work.)

Sometimes you gather cigarette stumps on the street with your brothers and gather the unburned tobacco in an old box of snuff. Then you roll it in strips of newspaper and smoke it. Or usually it's Billy and Johnny who do the smoking. Usually the only thing that keeps you warm is the last spanking daddy gave ya. But your greatest source of joy is playing Tetris with your old gray box on that flashing 640x480 screen. You got a modem too. Last week there was a new record, the dial-up managed to stay connected for 46 minutes before crashing. :)

I see.

Well then, if his parents(or anyone else) pay for all that he needs, he's hardly poor then, is he? He just doesn't own any hard capital or legally own anything of value. But he's still sitting pretty. That's not poor.
