I can't give blood for another two weeks...I got my septum pierced last year. But yeah, the news from New Orleans is mind-boggling. They've actually had to halt rescue operations some places because people are shooting at the rescuers. Yeah, you heard me.

I can't even comprehend that.

It's because they're not done stealing yet.

You need to give people time to finish up. People get very upset if you bother them while they're looting.

Dude, that had to freakin' hurt. I can't imagine that.

I had heard last night that at least 6 people were murdered in the Superdome and there were about a dozen rapes...in the last 3 days. It always does (but never should) surprise me at the depravity of people. Incredible.

I hear you. It's true you can't. I guess what I question is why would you post a comment about how it's no big deal on a thread that's intended to request help, etc on a disaster. If it doesn't move you or if you're supporting another cause just ignore the thread.

To me it is the same thing as going to a funeral for someone say in their 80's and when a family member is grieving saying to them, "Meh he was an old bastard anyway, people die all the time, get over it."

It accomplishes nothing and has meaning only as an agitator.

Schme and Nicks attitude to this issue deppresses me, anyone who can read a story in the news about a huge natural dissastor, with casuaties expected to be in the thousands and not feel sympathy, confuses me, Alot.

I am not saying that it is not sad, and I am not discouraging people from helping them. Hell, I would help if I could, and I'm sure anyone would if they had the chance would.

All I am saying is that I am not overcome with grief, nor can I afford to be or want too.

It's very sad, yes. But what would me getting upset do? All it would do is make me sad, and I don't enjoy that at all.
