So it has been down for over two hours already? I only just noticed ...

Geez, I hope nothing happens to my characters, while it's down. I left a fair few of them in precarious situations, enough said.

Looks like we have to reboot then ... Always a bit risky ... Ah well ...

IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW RISKY IT IS! IF IT GETS CANTR ONLINE, JUST DO IT!
Please and Thankyou.

Ah, a message from our server provider: "Please excuse this short interruption to your service. As we recently informed you per e-mail, your server is being moved to our new Data Center in Lenexa, Kansas. During the move, you will not be able to perform any operations, such as, rebooting, changing images, booting in recovery mode, accessing the serial console, or changing firewall rules. If you have any questions, please contact our dedicated server team"
That email went to a former staff member who handles server payments

... So I didn't know. But we just have to wait and see. Apologies!

Is there any clue as to how long this is going to take? And, will Cantr continue to run? I wasn't playing at the last crash.

There is no indication, since this is in an email to this other guy, but I'm sure it won't be long.
Cantr will be shut down, presumably, and we should more or less pick up where we were when we stopped. I don't expect any serious problems, really.

Whew, that's a relief. I would hate to think that any of my peeps died. Lots of them don't have any food. I won't say any more.

If it is being physically moved, it'd be fair to assume it was shutdown first... but I'm coming to realise you can't assume anything, these days..

I know this is kind of irrelevant, but lesson one in business is: don't...assume....anything.
After all, assuming makes an ass out of u and me.

Yeah, we can't really assume, and I don't have any details other than what I just copy/pasted. So we'll see

... But it should be ok. They can hardly move it without shutting down, right?

You never know, they might have a really long extension cable.
heh heh
Thankyou anyways for your news.

Never felt more justified for pushing for the forum to be moved to another server.
